3.7Lovely sitting here at a table on the street on a warmish morning. Ample seating. Spotlessly clean and neat. Gorgeous greeting, excellent service throughout. Very good long black coffee. My partner’s flat white was not hot though which irked her.

In the Coffs Harbour area we have quite a few great cafes. Sometimes I get a little bit complacent and take them for granted. Split Cafe in Sawtell falls into this category. You know the type of cafe, it’s reliable, you always suggest it as a meeting spot because you know the food is good.  They have enough tables to squeeze in one or two more… even when it doesn’t look physically possible. Best of all, the coffee is fabulous! Anything less than fabulous and you wouldn’t see my butt on a seat there. So I figure it’s about time I tell you about the menu, and what makes Split the place to be in Sawtell.
There is a lot of competition for cafes in Sawtell, most serving similar items. However, Split is a real stand out for me. Some locals took me there for breakfast and I’ve returned a number of times, always pleased! The banana and coconut bread with whipped cinnamon ricotta is delicious and a bargain at only $7! The Bircher muesli is also delicious, with lots of apple which is great. The coffee too is really great, they use Allpress which is always a favourite of mine. However, they are always busy so you may have to be prepared for a 5-10 minute wait, especially if in a group.
Super friendly and helpful staff. You are made to feel very welcome. Wholesome food that tastes good but is a bit lost in its presentation. Still tastes great and is good value for money. Coffee needs improvement but that’s the only downside.
