Thought we’d try something different from our usual place Goldbergs last night. Thoroughly disappointed with the quality and service. Not only did we have to wait over 50 minutes for our meals to come (Gnocchi and Beef Nachos) which could have been forgiven if the food was decent or if it had been extremely busy but neither were the case. The beef nachos were average, however it was the gnocchi that was the true let down. Usually, I’m not picky and will still eat what’s on my plate even if it’s not great but this was something else, I can’t even begin to describe the flavour. We were unable to finish the meal and left 90% of it on the plate. Our feedback was given to the staff and we were given a whole $6 discount to the bill. Yet another blow to this experience. I have only eaten here on one other occasion and again had to wait an hour for my food to come. There is a reason we always go to Goldbergs, always consistent and good quality. Extremely disappointed and won’t be returning.
Worst in Darby St!!!!!. Every time I go to Zinc I am disappointed!!! The meals are overrated and over priced!!Staff are always rude and grumpy!Food takes ages to come out!!Orders always get mixed up!!!Once i had breakfast there and asked for scrambled eggs and it literally looked like poo on a plate! I could have cooked scrambled eggs a lot better than that!Zinc is the worst restaurant in Newcastle for sure!!!!NEVER EVER GOING HERE EVER AGAIN!!!!
Zinc on Darby Street, Newcastle. The Good:-Sausages with caramelized onions were good. Onions were diced rather fine and had been caramelized for a few days. I’ve tried to cook the dish by myself later and can appreciate the finely diced onions and the quality of the meat. The dish could have done with more mashed potato though or an extra sausage as I did find myself hungry afterwards. – Waiter brought water to our table when the bottle was empty, it was nice not having to replace it ourselves.- Food was served in resturant time. I don’t see what these other reviewers are bitching about. If you want fastfood, please go to King St Maccers drive through. – The eight people I dined with were happy with the meals that they ordered. The Bad: Waiter kept asking if we wanted any more ‘drinkssssssssssssssssssss’. No big deal, just got annoying after the fifth time. Interesting:-A fellow diner guest pointed out that the Chef had his hair died hot pink. I joked back that at least he would be able to see the hair easily if there was any in his food. Verdict: – Not the most romantic place for a date on Darby Street but a solid meal. 7/10, would eat again.
