Dinner date in here is So good and amazing for me. I love the ambience and all of the arts feels like in italy 🙂 The Food amazing!! Their pizza and ragu pasta So good. But the most important thing is, the explanation about the Food is detailed and the Service Really friendly.. So good experienced
We had a special set menu with the restaurant, since our whole group occupied the entire restaurant for Pre Christmas lunch today. Overall, I feel comfortable and satisfied with all food served. Every course was constantly well prepared, I particularly enjoyed two of the entrees – the smoked kingfish and lamb skewer. The ribs could have more sauce on the side. The service was attentive with good explanation of every dish. I guess if you are looking for cosy and causal vibe yet decent flavour Italian restaurant, wont go wrong with this little gem.
Location:256 Military Road, Neutral Bay SydneyThe restaurant is open to the general public dinner from 6:00pm – 10:30pm, however can be booked for a private function for 10 people and above .Dcor:This is a small boutique Italian restaurant located in Neutral Bay which specialises in traditional and contemporary smoking of food. The interior of the restaurant is wooden themed and minimalistic and decorated with stunning paintings done by fabulous artists and the owner Paolo. There’s also a bar at the back of the restaurant in front of the kitchen that does not interfere with the space of the restaurant.Wait Time:We were there for a private tasting, therefore we did not experience any wait time. Waiting time between the dishes were reasonable 5 – 10 mins.Service:Impeccable service, the dishes arrived on our tables with great presentation with a detailed description of the dish.Food we ate:Antipasti –Smoked Citrus Kingfish Carpaccio with yumi olive oil, beet dust and cured cucumber-Crab and Avocado mousse, crostini with flying fishes and pickled grape salsa.-Smoked tender lamb lion skewer with cherry tomato, red onion, sherry onion, romesco and herb oil.-Smoked Aylesbury duck breast carpaccio with herb ricotta, fig vinaigrette and spinach dust.Pasta:-Crab and smoked kingfish taglitelle pidmonte pesto pasta-Beef & Smoked Marrow Ragu alla Bolognese Papparedelle, slow cooked beef bolognese in Sangiovese, smoked bone marrow, taleggio cheese, topped with gremolata and grana padanoMain:-Crispy Tasmanian Ocean Trout Fillet-Signature 7 hour smoked and roasted beef short ribs-Sticky glazed smoked pork with grolla verde, pickles and house apple slawsDessert:-Macadamia lemon, myrtle coconut, ice cream with corn puff, pistachio and smoked salted caramel-Mascarpone & Rhubarb semifreddo, with strawberry dust, pistachio, fresh berries, rhubarb and cardamom drizzleThere was nothing to fault on this menu, the presentation, service, quality of the foods was perfect. The servings were very reasonable. The progression of the menu allowed us to taste all the ingredients and cooking techniques in harmony. We can wait to visit again and devour a feast at grolla.PriceReasonable pricing for the quality and quantity. Ranging from $10 for Antipasti to $22 for mains.
Amazing service, amazing pasta – The communication was really good for the reservation. The place is welcoming and cozy. The entree was nice, the Morton bay bug pasta was quite impressive! However main dishes were quite limited and not quite nice as pasta – I would say they were below average. Desert selections are also limited too. Espresso was really nice.
I went there twice for the antipasto. That shows that I could have gone to a Deli. I loved the smoked duck breast and white anchovies with oysters. The later was great the first time then not so great the second time round. Neutral Bay doesn’t boast any amazing places. This is a middle of the range glorified Deli but the staff are friendly. Will go back because I love smoked meat.
Grolla is a trendy restaurant in the heart of Neutral Bay that redefines modern cuisine. Introducing both curing and smoking techniques to its dishes elevates the flavour to new heightsespecially in the most unlikeliest of places. medium.com
