Really delicious Japanese food! The modern take on Japanese food has been really well executed here. By far the best in the lower north shore. It is abit on the pricey side compared to other neighbouring Japanese restaurants but it is well worth your money. Must trys would be the sashimi tacos and volcano roll – such great balance of flavours and textures. If you are an eggplant lover the nasuden is also great but is tad on the oily side (tastes delicious though). Flounder tempura was something different and definitely a good choice if you love eating crunchy fish bones. The flounder tempura comes out with the whole fish deep fried with all the bones becoming edible. The scallops were ok but felt like they could have been made at home the same way. The only big down side was the dessert – I didnt feel like it hit the mark in regards to flavours but it was a good experience – especially while they have the $8.50 promotion on for it.

My friends and I were looking for food on Christmas eve, and the nearby sushi place was closed. we literally came here cause it was the first restaurant that popped up around us of reasonable price. Food took a while to be served, but clearly the food was freshly made when it was served! Sashimi was extremely fresh and surprised us with the quality. Definitely a local gem. We didn’t try the mains because we were full. Will definitely come back again.

Easily one of the best Japanese restaurants on the lower North Shore! Suitably decorated in a very black and red authentic theme, Toshiya’s menu is extensive and I must say I’ve tried a lot of it. If you have never been here before I would highly recommend the special banquet (for $49 for 4 people). Starting with edamame of course, salmon carpaccio, grilled scallop, soft shelled crab, duck dumpling, seared salmon roll, tempura sushi, wagyu beef in teriyaki style and ice-cream! All so good and made to order fresh on the premises! Sure, you can also order a la carte or choose a $39 set menu too! Also you MUST order their most famous dish…. sashimi tacos! This is the dish you will dream about and come back for! Combination of sashimi in a gyoza case with chilli may dressing. So tasty! Itadakimasu!

Dropped by for a meal with my partner one Friday night. Was pleasantly greeted and sat at a table for two. Waited for about 15 minutes for something to happen. Anything…. Nothing did. No menus were given to us, no water, nothing. So we walked out and spent $150 elsewhere. We haven’t been back since and don’t plan on going there again. Well, perhaps we could go just after we’ve eaten somewhere in anticipation of getting hungry at a later date.As for the food….????????????? I hope they pay more attention to the food than their customers!

A little too pricey for my liking. However the service was great and the restaurant was in a good location. The fish was fresh and the interior of the restaurant was superb. A great place to come with friends and family.

Mayo-loaded dishes dominate the menu, which is a pity especially because their sushi is quite good (don’t need any sauce except for soy!)On one occasion I overheard three waitresses bitching about a couple for the whole 70 minutes we were dining there so I haven’t been back since.

Local gem in Cremorne and easy to access by bus. We came here on a Friday night and were excited to get some japanese food in our bellies! Everything that we ordered was great! Sushi and the sashimi tacos were my favourite! Staff were friendly and accomodating. The dessert however was nothing special. Would definitely recommend!
