When we first moved to Crows Nest a few years’ back, this used to be our favourite local. They had incredible Tofu smoothies, yes Tofu smoothies! The dumplings were awesome and the noodles were some of the best we have had to date. The owners told us that they were freshly made after we ordered which is why there was a little bit of a wait. They were very proud of their noodles and with reason. We used to come here at least once a month and sometimes even once a week. It was always so full. I’m not sure what happened since then as I hadn’t been in a long, long time but this year when I went with a few visitors in town, I was very disappointed. The Tofu smoothies were gone. Not sure if the place changed hands but the staff and manager had never heard of Tofu smoothies. Didn’t see the previous owners around. The dishes we ordered were below average to average with the meat dish and the noodles being average. The noodles were somewhat similar but didn’t taste as fresh or special as they used to. All dishes were on the salty side. My visitors and I were disappointed especially since I raved so much about this place beforehand. I later spoke to another local who used to love this place and he said he had been there last year and it was the same sad experience.

This is my second visit to this restaurant. In order to stay to the safe and reliable side of the menu, I went with xiolongbao, dumplings and stir fried noodles. These were recommended on the menu, and given the cusine should be fairly fail safe. Unfortunately, all 3 dishes were well below par. On the plus side, the restaurant itself was bright lit with comfortable seating and the service was good though the place was not really busy at the time.
I came here for the giant soup dumplings! Been wanting to try for the longest time. They take forever to steam though, because they’re so big. They actually got our order wrong for some of the other dumplings, so be sure to have them read your order back to you.So the food is alright and I’d like to come back to try different things. Love the dumplings and fried noodles. Have not tried the giant xiao long bao. Good casual local Chinese that is great for a quick meal. Will have to return to try dinner dishes
Great (friendly) service and my favourite spot for dumplings! Try the xiao long bao or pan fried mushroom dumplings. I keep coming back and haven’t been disappointed. Sometimes we’ll mix it up with a main dish, but we can never avoid the dumplings for too long.
The waitstaff are nice, lunch menu noodle soups suck big time. All three of them had the same base, noodles are rubbery, taste just not up to any standards. It’s the worst noodle soup I’ve had in a while……………………..sorry
