This place is packed even before it’s open on Saturday 6 pm. The menu has recently been changed and it’s not really for better. We ordered the escargot, onion soup and scallops for Entrees. The scallops are fresh and tasty so is the escargot. Onion soup was a let down. Not only its not fresh it’s also very bland. For mains we ordered the chicken, wagyu steak with mushroom sauce and the Salmon. Salmon is the best. Didnt enjoy the Wagyu. It’s not the right texture and the mushroom sauce can be augmented a note or two. The chicken dish despite being displayed on top was actually the worse very bland and not cooked properly as we can see red portion We quite enjoyed the desert. The best is the panacotta followed by the caramel pudding. The merrange lemon tart is a bit too sweet for us. Some one with sweeter tooth may enjoyed it though. Service is good btw. Food came out realatuvely quickly considering it’s Saturday night. Ann is very responsive with email booking despite our sudden changes.
Had a really nice 3 course dinner hereThe service was excellent- waiters were prompt and at tentative and very friendlyThe food was delicious, every single course was so yummy. I had the calamari for entree, the lamb rigatoni for the main and crime brle for dessert. The portion sizes were really generous for each course and was so full by the end.The lamb was so soft and melted in your mouth and the crime brle was amazing! So silky and smooth just perfectHighly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a fancy dinner out or just want a good quality meal. 10/10 would recommend
Rushed service. When you’re paying $100 up per person you’d expect to spend time at least a couple of hours. Garlic prawns came without even a slice of bread. Service rushed and seemed the waiter never heard what we said. Had to repeat and confirm to get correct orders. Overall experience below average. Last time I’ve been there.
La Grillade was the first restaurant I ever had snails at about 15 years ago. Amazing then and amazing now! This cozy little restaurant is a unique neighbourhood gem. Had a group dinner here on a Wednesday night. Great service and amazing good. The wagyu rump was divine! Creme caramel was also amazing! Souks definitely go back to revisit. All in all great dining experience
Cosy little French restaurant on the quiet side of Crowie. The table service was brilliant, cheerful and informative.I did not leave this restaurant feeling as though I had been to a French restaurant. It felt like an imitation French restaurant where they had tried their best to impersonate French cuisine. It wasn’t bad but it is not a place I will return to in a hurry.
Got a groupon deal for entree, main, dessert & 1 portion of wine per person. Entrees: Escargot (beautiful big decorative shells (which waitress told me I can’t take home as they reuse them!)) but snails tasted a bit bland. Duck liver pate, very classy pate & presentation but the small hard as stone crispy bread slices & hard long cracker-like thingie you dip into it weren’t that great.Mains: Coq au vin, some authentic classy ingredients & flavours but a little bit bland. Wagyu beef steak – one of the best steaks I have ever tried in my life – lovely to slice & literally melts in the mouth with very good sauce.Wines: The 1/3 of a wine glass portions of red & white wines were very good quality, pretty strong in alcohol content & a good match for the food, but the lukewarm red wine was a bit off & you could tell it wasn’t freshly opened, maybe they opened the bottle a few days ago. Dessert: The coconut & mango jelly in a cup could have had a bit stronger flavour. The chocolate mousse was OK but not outstanding. The waitress was respectful, friendly & attentive so we left a tip. The atmosphere here has a nice quaint old vibe, classy & charming. The food I give a 3.5/5 as they could tweak it to have stronger flavours, but the overall experience created by the owners/management/staff brings it up to a classy rating of 4.
Very underwhelmed – we had a Scoopon voucher so I can understand the menu being a little limited but everything was pretty bland. Would have thought they’d try to impress to get you to come back – certainly wasn’t anything to write home about, I was happy we hadn’t paid! Pretty sure the wine I had was open too long too. Disappointing
