After several failed attempts to secure a spot at Shinsengumi for the last few months, we decided that if we couldn’t go for the omakase, the omakase could come to us. We ordered two platters of mixed sushi and they were beautiful. Fresh thick slices of assorted seafood on well-formed sushi rice. The platters had the standard salmon, tuna, kingfish, tamago varieties but the more expensive option also included calamari, uni, scampi, scallops and anagao. They were also able to lightly torch (auburi) some sushi for those who are averse to raw fish. It was a great decision to order takeaway and I’d recommend this if you haven’t managed to score a seat either. Obviously the quicker you consume it, the better.
