Very Very disappointing don’t wast your time or money. Great venue nice to have a drink…. but serving of the food is very small and unadventurous. Also be warned don’t take a birthday cake there or the charges for a large plate, a knife to cut the cake, small plates to serve on and cutlery will be more than the cost of the cake and this is without them doing anything…we did it all ourselves! So go enjoy a drink and the view then go elsewhere to eat.
Hello Sailor. As most know the famous Boxing Day Sydney to Hobart starts here. Having driven past the club along New Beach Road as a short cut to Double Bsy over the last 25 years during visit to Sydney we suddenly pulled into a parking spot and went in. This was around 2:30pm, signed in as visitors. Well after all these years we finally visited the club. Some old sailors on a table outside dressed in their colours were enjoying what looked like post sailing drinks. It was a beatiful Sydney day and we sat and took in the vista of the yachts and Rushcutters Bay. The kitchen is open all day so we shared a Thai salad with optional chicken satays. Really enjoyed the calmness, food and drinks. It was time out from the Sydney madness you get wrapped in. The menu items looked inviting and I may pop in for breakfast during my occasional morning walks.
Good for the view!. The Rushcutters Yacht Club (Cruising Yacht Club of Australia) is a respectable trek from Kings Cross. It is set against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbor overlooking luxurious yachts and offers you a good lunch spot on a beautiful hot day in Sydney. Well firstly make sure that you do not live 5km of the club or you will not be allowed in, and also dont forget your ID! I had a spot of lunch today at CYCA and to be honest I was disappointed, was expecting better. I had the beef burger but when the burger arrived it was half the size of the bun! I mean come on! The menu is not anything exciting but a bistro/bar menu and whether its always good value for money though, is questionable. Good place to come for a drink with a view!
Aaaaaahhhhh…… Good food – does what it says on the tin but the easy-on-the-pocket drinks on the deck are what make the Cruising Club the brilliant CBD fringe nautical spot that it is.Family friendly and a great place to soak up the afternoon sun and chill in the marina amongst the Rushcutters Bay boats.
But hit and miss. Extensive menu from seafood, nachos and burgers to steak, pizza and pasta. Bistro style so order and pay. No real service. Food good most of the time but not all the time.
Unhappy. I ate at the CYCA yesterday and to be honest, was expecting better. I had the pork ribs – which was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. I found the meal bland at best. The ribs had obviously not been marinated before they were cooked. If it had not been for the sauce added just before serving, the dish would have been completely without flavour. I will say that my five companions all enjoyed the meals they ordered. Apparently the garlic prawns were delicious.
Inedible. The cold seafood platter was embarassing. The 3 mussels were dry and shrivelled. The 3 oysters were doused in some strange dressing. There were 2 lumps of smoked salmon layered with cream cheese served in a shot glass with a strange and sickly green cold sauce. Even the sliced semi-toasted bread was not stale. The best part of it were the 4 prawns which says something… Good place to come for a drink with a view but do not eat here!
