I got the pie with mash potatoes and peas and it was good. I definitely enjoyed it. But my friend got the roast and she was extremely disappointed. For me the food was good, but the service was below average.
Never had an issue place was great and food was awesome tasted good ………was busy great music definitely be returning to here Loves Ve the rocks
Waited for 45 minutes for my ordered lunch. After half an hour, I asked the waiter to check my food status and they just came to double check my meal details at that time which meant they definitely did not start to cook! Every customer after my order got their lunch except me. Though the food is just fine, but feel so disappointed on the food delay.
Considering its location the meal price is quite reasonable and in fact it didn’t taste too bad either. I only visited the pub once or twice when checking out the rocks market and ended up stopping by here for fish n chips. thernbdiary.com
Worst Sunday roast….EVER! Cheap and rubbery cut of beef with veins going through it. Awful texture. You only get roast veg with it and no roast potatoes or mash. How is that a roast dinner? Ended up leaving most of it behind. Wouldn’t eat here again.
Gone off. The Mercantile could always be relied upon for a great steak, salmon, Guinness steak pie etc…all good high quality pub fare and the best hot chips ever. Must have a different chef now because the menu has changed and not for the best, our last 3 visits have all been disappointing. We ate there today, I ordered Irish Stew, a few sad pieces of meat in a broth with lots of great big chunks of potato, flavourless swill. My partner ordered sirloin steak ($26), it was tough, burnt outside, raw inside with a very ordinary representation of a salad. they still serves a great Guinness but unfortunately the food now is overpriced and of poor quality. We have visited the The Mercantile weekly for many years but we won’t be eating there again in a hurry.
The place quite nice and the people were really lovely but I couldn’t rave about the food. Fairly average pub food.
