The Bowan Island Bakery in Drummoyne has good bread, decent pastries and sandwiches and generally good breakfast. Bread is generally overpriced by a $1 or two and they make sure to give you fru-fru juice to overcharge there as well. The Battista is good. Major letdowns happen in the small things. A toast and jam for your kid gets you BIG slices of nice bread and butter barely enough for one slice, with the jam conservatively used fitting on 1.5. I.e. You need twice as much. Their avo/tom on spelt is nice but not enough olive oil. For the price, it’s a so-so/OK experience.

The bread is good, the pastries and cakes are nice, sandwiches nothing to write home about. The coffee is terrible. If this is the best coffee in Drummoyne then I’ll cross the bridge to Rozelle for my caffeine fix.

Okay food. Nice people. Quiet area. Liked the experience overall. Food was okay but not the best you can find. Desserts are also okay.. just okay..

Really delicious rhubarb tart! Probably one of the best I’ve had!The chocolate pistachio cake was too sweet and a bit too sticky, I couldn’t taste the pistachio.

Bakery cafe that offers a wide selection of savoury and sweet pastries, and of course fresh baked breadBurgundy pie – the meat was nice and tender, it is seasoned well and has a few chunky meats in it, although majority of it was the mushy mince filling Rhubarb tart – rhubarb was a little sour but it complimented well with the underlying sweet pastry Pear tart – the sweetness of the pear with the pastry made the dish slightly heavy to eat, but nonetheless it tasted goodIce coffee – they make a really nice blend, not too much coffee, not too much ice cream, perfect for a warm and humid day Service is ordinary, staff are friendly and helpful Parking available access via Formosa street

I came, I saw, I left unimpressed for lunch. Service was slow which is rather unusual for a bakery.Pies were really good, nice chunky pieces of meat with good gravy and think flaky pastry…. Yum !, the rest of the food was average at best.My other sticking point with this place is the expensive price tags, at least 30% above the normal asking price elsewhere, a bit rich imo

Just a door or two along from the Village Bakery is Bowan Island bakery, which is well known across Sydney for its breads. The bakery cafe has a big range of prepared sandwiches, rolls and cakes. I opted for a fruit mince pie, one of my favourite xmas foods. Another good bakery choice.
