Loved the dishes from this cosy Japanese Izakaya restaurant in Dulwich Hill. We ordered almost everything from the menu including the sweet corn fritters special which came with black sesame hummus, mochi dumplings with tofu, cabbage and black quinoa, coconut tofu with kimchi mayonnaise (was one of my faves!), Midori vegetables – broccoli and zucchini with yuzu dressing, beef balls, bonito sashimi (this fish was so fresh!) and some others. All the dishes were super tasty with their own unique flavour combinations. A good cocktail and drinks menu as well, I ordered the lychee sorbet and vodka cocktail which came in a cute teapot with a paper origami crane!Loved how the place is run by a Japanese lady who puts so much much care and attention to detail in her menu and also the aesthetics of her Izakaya.

I was a bit disapointed after reading the rave reviews on google. Food appeared cheap… the casual sort of place. But servings were extremely small… So 3 meat dishes.. is probably equiv to ur normal sized main… the pork was very good. Tasty soft. But the sushi roll and dumplings were rather bland and not great at all. Also menu said tumeric rice But it was brown rice. Only one person on the floor so service is a bit slow too.

The food here is delicious though a little expensive as the serving sizes are very small. I got the lychee and rose shake, braised pork with bok choy and a bowl of tumeric rice. The shake was amazing. Not very sweet as I was expecting which was the best part. The lychees were still in small pieces in the shake. The braised pork tasted like home cooked by mum. The Japanese mustard went really well with the pork and wasn’t too hot nor did it hit you in the face like hot English mustard.I came with a friend and we were able to split the bill when paying at the counter. Plus they accept credit cards without a surcharge.

I have visited Manmaru many times, and I am always greeted with friendly service, hard working staff and delicious food! Not to mention the coffee is great to boot 🙂

This cafe is adorable with all its vegan options! Everything was tasty but also quite dainty, so we ordered a lot but still wasn’t completely full. The sweet goods were really amazing, you must give them a go or take some away. And no idea what they’ve done to the rose lychee milkshake but it was insane. I was about to order another one for takeaway because it was so delicious, but it was also expensive and my wallet had done enough crying for the day.

Super cute cafe, lovely staff, great music choices! Plenty of vegan options that are inventive and delicious. We had the award winning pie, a vege bowl type dish and a vegan apple pie for desert. Loved it all
