Cool little local fish and chip shop with a funky fit out. We grabbed lunch here recently when we happened to be in the area and were rushed for time. Tried the family pack fish and chips and a beef burger meal- the deep fried whitebait was a different touch. All in all the flavours were standard, biggish portions and the location is at a convenient spot near the station.
Ordered the salmon and salad for $15. You can imagine my shock when I got less than a handful of salad and the thinnest piece of salmon they could find. They must be desperate and in debt to not afford some more salad. If you are looking to get robbed head over to the Psari shop and bring yourself a bag of lettuce, they need it.
It seems a nice clean shop but the fact that basa fish are the main fish used,i will not be going back.Basa is a filthy,farmed freshwater fish bred in the dirty Mekong river in Vietmam its not even classed as seafood, and can be bought for as little as $4 a kilo.Seems fish shops dont buy local anymore and proceed to dump the cheap overseas farmed freshwater fish on us to make more money.
Healthy options for a fish and chip shop! The grilled fish and salads are actually good! The deep fried stuff is good too, particularly the squid.
Fresh and Cheap!. Really good fresh food. Staff always friendly and offer healthy choices such as the grilled fish and salad.
Amazing. All food is top notch and carefully prepared with high quality produce. Greek salad was one of the best I’ve had with a beautiful extra virgin olive oil dressing, intensely delicious fetta and olives, thinly sliced red onion and lovely, fresh cucumbers. Chips really crispy and perfectly cooked. Prawn skewer was to die for. Barra was tender and melted in your mouth. They have home made sauces too. Best tartar of my life, hands down. Can’t believe this place doesn’t have people lined up down the street to eat here. It was empty when we arrived! Guess it’s one of those best kept secret kinda places. It baffles me that people would drive out to Bondi for the so called best fish and chips, deal with crowds, traffic and lack of parking, pay three times as much and get food that doesn’t come close to the taste and quality of the food here. Oh well, their loss. Just goes to show it’s always the places people don’t know about that are the best.
The baby barra and the Greek salad is to die for. Beautiful fresh food, always good.
