What happened – the Vicar of Wakfield was a great venue, great bands, good food and has now been the victim of the dreaded trendies.Went there with the extended family for our Mum’s birthday on a Sunday. The Vicar is now a very sterile venue. Arrived there, fashionably late (wife) & went to the bar to get some drinks before sitting down – informed it was ‘table service’. Got a drink anyway – possible foresight. Menu didn’t impress so just went with what my sisters thought ie. food for a group. $46 for a roast chook, $70 for a roast lamb shoulder, $16 for ceaser salad & $10 for a bowl of chips. Ouch – what has happened here. Food was very bland and the excessive cost made the taste even more painful. As for table service for the drinks – hint – don’t employ teenagers that have their faces constantly looking at their phones. Service was disgracefully woeful. What was once a great place to go to has been turned into a sterile yuppie hipster @#%$@. Won’t be back. Recommendation – don’t bother, there are better places to go.
Bianca: The Vicar of Wakefield, recently reborn and redeveloped as The Vicar. A multi-purpose venue spanning four restaurants comprising of a sports bar, an up-market restaurant, a brisket bar and a soon to open wine bar. The Hecker Guthrie design is schmick and you wouldn’t be remiss to think you were in the middle of the city, not (almost rural) Dural. I’m a former Kellyville girl, so I can say it!
