Some very interesting menu items, and quality of food to warrant return visits. The prawn burger was a stand-out, but every dish was superb.Service was friendly and prompt too. Prices were a touch steep, but nothing to put you off giving it at least one visit 😛 I, for one, will gladly return.
We went for the $15 steak and fries special, was good food. Enjoyed the garlic bread, a nice twist having cloves roasted in the bread. Kids enjoyed playing the board games while waiting. Margaritas were great!
I haven’t been in the Gazebo since Elton John married a woman (not that I was invited). The iconic hotel is now apartments with a busy restaurant on the ground floor which I enjoyed for the first time at a Melbourne Cup lunch ($99 for three courses).Naturally, it was packed out; both inside and the large outdoor terrace heaving with Cup patrons in their fascinators and finery. I give the restaurant full marks for managing so many diners efficiently and, on our table of 18, delivering the courses to everyone at the same time (I’ve seen many busy restaurants fail at this feat). From the entrees I chose oysters (half dozen in a barely detectable Laphroig whisky dressing) which I was pleased to say were room temperature and very enjoyable (some consider oysters a risk in a busy dining room but the Gazebo pulled if off). Other choices included prawns with avocado and lime dressing and beef carppacio. For the main I selected a rib eye steak medium rare (which it was) with a slightly lame bernaise sauce and what were called twice cooked fries which didn’t quite come off as they had no crunch and were too soft. A few leaves of rocket were draped over the meal and the accompaniments were the same with other choices of salmon filet, roast chook and pork belly. The first two courses were completed just in time for the Big Race which I ended up watching on my mate’s phone as the TV screen at the other end of the room was blocked by fascinators and screeching punters. Needless to say I did my dough. The dessert was an enjoyable poppy seed meringue (pictured) with raspberry compote, mascarpone, gelato and artfully draped with flower petals.I enjoyed an excellent shiraz and a range of other drinks I am struggling to remember as we carried on til at least 8.30pm and my memory is rather foggy about the rest of the day.
Excellent service, great food prepared with care. A broad range of cocktails and beers with a menu that works. They even offer Dog treats if you want to take your 4 legged friend out for dinner.
Only went for drinks, so can’t offer an opinion on food. This place is ok, not the best location right next to Kings Cross police station where all the police cars park. Kind of ruins the outdoor experience. I only had a couple of beers, so you can’t really go wrong there. My wife had a couple of cocktails, which looked pretty good. I probably won’t rush back here just for a drink, there are a lot of other places in the area that do not make you feel like you are sitting in the middle of a car park. Almost $60 for four drinks is a lot of money when you don’t have a view.
One of my favourite spots in Sydney. The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff are lovely and the cocktails are fantastic. Sit outside and enjoy the ambiance as a dj softly spins the beats. Thoroughly recommend
Food was absolutely delicious. I loved my salmon salad – and boy was that salmon so fantastically cooked. The fact that the salad was super substantial made the price worth it. The eggplant side we ordered was tasty and smokey and tangy all at the same time, and I most definitely recommend it! The chicken cacciatore, in my opinion, lacked a touch of seasoning, but otherwise everything was just great. Another popular favorite was the duck. The place was certainly very warm, considering we had our coats off in the middle of a bad sydney winter storm, but I think the place was very dimly lit. Furthermore it was so incredibly loud! We struggled to even get the waiter to hear our voices. It did quiten down eventually, but it was still a little frustrating. The drinks were also great, with a fun range to choose from 🙂 Service overall was helpful and nice, and everything was bought out in a reasonable amount of time. This is a great place with a wonderful vibe for something like a fun dinner with friends, or even a fun date night. theminiaturelife.com
