Ive been dining at Borrells for over 7 years now, and Im sad to say that after tonight Ill never return. Long story short – there was no air conditioning and all the customers were hot and uncomfortable. Our meals took over an hour to come out. The risotto we ordered was undercooked and completely tasteless. After we kindly told our waitress about the dish, she seemed unconcerned and charged us the full amount. If you want a nice night out – I wouldnt recommend this place.
Very good food. A regular visitor on Fridays. I normally get a takeway everytime. Pollo Grane is the best of the best dish i have tasted. Been a customer from last 1 year and everytime the food tastes the same. Awesome Consistency.
The best italian food ive ever had, specially the pesto pasta. Been there twice, sweet staff. Just wish the food could be served faster , had to wait for quite a lot of time. Overall a very good experience.
We went here for a family dinner. Pasta was delicious, the flavours were good, friendly service, great dessert (tiramisu and creme brle were very nice). Overall much better than I was expecting and I would recommend!
The last time I went here was several years ago. Went again with my friend after craving Italian, and this place came to mind for Epping. Was relatively quiet for a Sunday night on the night of the local carols in the local park in 2015. Nothing special with the service, though it felt relatively more posh.Looked at the prices, and it was slightly on the higher end. Ordered the garlic bread to share ($4.9). Forgot the name of the dishes we ordered (the red looking one and white looking one) but I remember we didn’t have any issues with the taste, rather just the smaller serving size for the price we were paying of around $20ish each for those dishes.Overall it was a fine experience, although on the expensive end. Since it was locally convenient, didn’t have much negatives to say.
I’d eaten here years ago and it was memorable for the wrong reasons, so I’d promised myself to be objective and and not reflective. Well I’m sorry to report that this restaurant has gotten worse. We arrived on a Friday night to a half full restaurant. This used to be a book a week ahead eatery. Demure lighting which I like, but the air conditioning blowing hot air on us was unpleasant. I had to put the wine and water on the floor so as not to get too hot. Friendly service which was sufficiently attentive and no grumpy faces or attitude .But the food. My partner has the salt and pepper squid and I the house speciality, the meatballs. The squid was ok, a bit oily but the kitchen shouldn’t have drizzled the aioli over it and it would have been better not to use caramelised balsamic on the greens, just a touch too much sweetness. My meatballs were a real let down. Frozen and reheated for serving, the texture was rubbery and the basil had lost all it’s herbal pungency. The only flavour was afforded by the sea of tomato and parmesan the 2 meatballs were marooned in.Mains, my partner had the marinara. This would have been OK but for the heavy handed use of chilli. This should have been noted on the menu as she has a low tolerance to hot chilli. The bottled tomato sauce was uninspiring and the rest of the dish was ordinary. But the real disappointment was my saltimbocca. Described as veal escalopes with sage andprosciutto & a garlic white wine jus. What I got was veal escalopes sitting on top ofbroccoliin a sea of whitewinevinegar, which was sour to the point ofunpleasant. And chef, you really shouldn’t forget the sage, it makes the dish. Any taste of the prosciutto had been bleached by the sour soup. This was like no saltimbocca I’d ever experienced, and hope never to have again.Twice bitten, you don’t get a third chance Mr Borelli.
Just had the worst meal in ages. I can’t remember the last time I sent back a plate. The food and service has gone way down. Won’t be returning. I’ll now go to the restaurant across the street.
