Upon our arrival at Di Lusso we were waiting to be seated for over 10 minutes. I understand that places get incredibly busy during peak lunch periods however the rude wait staff did not even acknowledge us when they pushed past us to pick up some menus. A simple ‘hi girls, will be with you in a minute would have sufficed. We ordered three pizzas and the salad of the day and the pizzas were delicious (despite the lack of topping) however we found three chicken bones on the chicken pizza. It was as if they had just lazily pulled apart a roast chicken and thrown it on the base and then into the oven. Chicken bones SHOULD NOT be on a pizza!

Its a great venue and I had been here once before and had a fantastic Pork loin chop with cherries in the wood fired oven so we rushed to get here before the kitchen closed at 2pm to see what was on offer. My boys always want pizza and they do that pretty well with traditional Italian style. However, its not my thing so I always want a proper main so I ordered in anticipation the Vitello Tonato from the menu (yum one of my favourites). The pizza’s came and the wine (Sangiovese- pretty good) but where was the Vitello Tonato? On enquiry I was told the kitchen did not get the order and the chef had left for the day and would I like a pizza! I have realised the problem here is not the food but the lack of management. Lots of young girls trying with no leadership.

Amazing location for a long lunch in Mudgee. It’s outdoor seating right next to a beautiful lake and landscape, with delicious wood-fired pizza that they cook outdoors as well. The smokey aromas & pleasant atmosphere of this place will want you to keep visiting this place, I assure you!! I can definitely see weddings happening here as well, perfect venue for a wedding reception. Their menu changes depending on the season, we came here just towards the end of winter so they had a delicious risotto on the menu at the time (which seemed quite popular on the day we visited) and also a beautiful chicken dish as a main which had the meat falling off the bone – soooo good!!! From their pizza menu I’d recommend their Antipasto Pizza ($25) and Pizza Anchovy with Capers ($25), both outstanding. The dessert was great too, we had the Cinnamon Moscato Poached Pear ($10) which was deliccciouss, also the Moscato made it super sweet, and I love sweet. Talking about sweet, we tried their special dessert wine – Picolit, oh my goodness it was like we died and went to heaven, we took a few bottles of this home because it was so good. Great with a cheese board or with any dessert. Di Lusso Estate is definitely worth the visit while in Mudgee, and if you have time for a long lunch, make sure to try Cucino Di Lusso for a pleasant dining experience.

Di Lusso Estate is more than a cellar door, it’s an adult’s playground and the perfect place to settle into an afternoon drinking and playing a game of bocce.
