We reserved a table (as it was a friday night) however the smile from the head chef upon entering (after almost an hours drive) was where the positive experience ended. After waiting 5 mins we caught the attention of one of the wait staff (who seemed very flustered, and as I was to find out, this was as she was the only one of three that seemed to be doing anything). I then mentioned that I had a reservation; however was ignored and told to ‘just sit there’ at the nearest table. We were then given water and were told that the waitress would shortly return to ‘give us the specials’ and take our order. However we then waited for almost 30mins (whilst wait staff avoided us and other tables were being served) until another rude waitress appeared and asked ‘are you ready to order’? We then asked her for the specials (as they had not yet been provided as promised) and she stormed off like it was an inconvenience to ask. Upon returning we were given a terse response and it was already clear that this waitress did not want us inconveniencing her any further. Still we persisted and tried to order some bread, only to be told ‘we dont have that’ and upon choosing another ‘you cant have both’. Then we tried to order drinks, only to be told ‘oh you have to buy that one by the bottle’ and upon pointing out that a different brand of the same wine variety was available by the glass were told ‘oh thats not available and you have to buy a bottle’. By this time (after 30 mins made to sit uncomfortably with wait staff avoiding us) we simply got up and left. Disturbingly the waitress who was last at our table and making things deliberately difficult, seemed to be pleased with this result. Unless the chef gets new wait staff that have a pinch of customer service skills, this restaurant will not survive no matter how good the food is!
Great breakfast roll, extremely delicious. Terrible coffee. Don’t be fooled by the signs advertising peak coffee. My flat white had no milk foam/froth and it tasted burnt.
Great dinner. Had a family dinner on a lovely balmy evening by the river. The meals were fantastic (grilled chicken with prawn and avocado, kids pizzas plus desserts) and the staff, especially the chef, were very welcoming. Would definitely dine there again.
