Neat little spot in Fairfield for Asian cuisine. Can get quite busy during the weekend. Can get quite noisy among other dinners but food is good. Worth waiting for.
No frills, cheap dining. This place has been a family favourite for years. Located across from Fairfield Station in the slightly dodgier part of town; they have an extended room to accomodate large bookings. This place was packed out for Father’s Day but tends to be busy anyway. Must orders include: lao pork sausage, pad see ew and if you’re feeling adventurous the ox tongue is superb. If you’re into lao-thai cuisine this place will be right up your alley.
Havent been here for ages and felt like coming here for a nostalgic feed of Lao food. It seems like theyve opened up 2 shops – one closer to the train station and their usual restaurant is closer to the RSL. The food was ok but quality was inconsistent. We ordered Lao sausages, ox tongue, chicken feet salad, chicken mince salad, beef jerky and papaya salad. The ox tongue was really inconsistent. One came out extremely dry (was the bad piece of the ox tongue) and the other came out much more juicy. The papaya salad was ok – nothing special about it. The beef jerky was abit on the hard side and the Lao sausage was more floury than meaty. My partner didnt like it but I like this styled sausage better than others in the city. The fish sauce dip was also not strong in flavour which was another disappointment. Tasted quite bland and just salty.Overall, it was a pretty disappointing memory of Lao food at this place. Cost is also pretty up there for the ox tongue compared to what you can get at other places ($15 each). Probably wont come back here.
