A decent Laos/Thai restaurant to go to if you’re looking for somewhere local. They have $9 lunch specials but the normal Pad Thai and Pad See Ew dishes are already cheap at $9 anytime. I enjoyed this place considering how cheap it is but the serving size is slightly smaller than usual (hence why it’s cheaper). One of the ladies serving us didn’t seem to be familiar with the menu because I ordered milk iced coffee and she gave me a puzzled look. When it came out, it was too sweet and also lacked in coffee.

This restaurant is definitely what I would call a hidden gem in Sydney. Don’t be deterred by the unflashy appearance of the restaurant. The food has a nice homely feel to it. I would especially recommend it if you are a fan of Lao cuisine.I always order the grilled ox tongue, papaya salad and the raw beef salad (try it if you are game!) dishes. The quality of the dishes has been consistent. Be sure to specify your spiciness preference if it is low.Bear in mind this is a local restaurant in western Sydney. You’re not going to get fine dining-tier service although the ladies have been nice to me the times I’ve been there. If you just want a tasty quick meal at a reasonable price look no further.
Sub-par service. They forgot our drink, brought out the wrong dish, tried to insist that we ordered a dish the waitress wrongly jotted down for the order was ours, then later proceeded to tell us that we never ordered the dish that we actually did order. The noodle soup with blood jelly was yummy but we initially received it without any jelly. When we asked the waitress whether it’s supposed to be in there she just shrugged her shoulders and said i don’t know. She simply could not care less. Overall the food was good but you can get great food at a lot of places in Sydney, without having to keep asking for a simple order they should’ve confirmed and got right.
To be honest we only ate here because our usual Thai/Laos place was not open yet and we were in a bit of a rush. We decided to try Yum Sab, but I do recall reading some bad reviews and was a bit hesitant. We ordered our typical.. papaya salad, larb, ox tongue, laos sausage, coconut juice, sticky rice. To my surprise the food was really good. i loved the flavours in the Laos sausage.. it’s a must if you’re new to this cuisine. The ox tongue here had a nice streak of fat through the meat which made it melt in your mouth. The larb was just as good as any… and the salad.. well it was refreshing at least. The service seems to be what most people complain about and I see what people mean… but I didn’t find it too bad.. all our dishes.. ordering, cooking, serving and eating took around 45 minutes. I can live with that. Price wise its quite low and comparable to others in Fairfield. I’d eat here again…
Worst customer service!. Worse customer service! They got our orders mixed up, the lady serving us was rude and even rolled her eyes each time we made an addition to our order. They gave us food we didn’t order and tried to argue that we did, only to find that it was their error. We waited more than an hour for our food to the point that some of us had to cancel our order. The food wasn’t great either!
Last but not least, three of us got stomachache after dining here…07 Nov, 2014Bad customer experience. Was recommended to this place, but got disappointed.. Food was only average. One of the menu was misplaced. When paying, Got overpriced bill. Tried to explain, owner didn’t believe, but gave dirty look.. Never appoligized after realizing she was wrong.. Disappointing customer service. Would never come again, and never recommond to any friend..
