The site of the old Il Momento cafe in Five Dock is under new management and the owners haven’t wasted any time in refurbishing; it’s been given a new lick of paint (reminiscent of Wedgwood blue) and a refresh with smart new furniture and decor. The coffee is great and the menu reads well – there’s the usual sweet plates for breakfast (buttermilk pancakes, french toast) as well as some really interesting savoury dishes like mushy peas, hot smoked trout and avocado, mixed mushrooms and breakfast XO fried rice plus the usual suspects like eggs and bacon and egg rolls. Vegans are also catered for with various options including a substantial sounding vegan toast (house made hommous, topped with chickpeas, spiced pumpkin, kale and pepitas on sourdough.
