Slightly removed from Gladesville shops down the hill from Victoria Rd on Pittwater Rd at the roundabout with Venus St located in the old Cheesecake shop is Josh-e-Rogan. Keen to give it a go, we decided to have a take-away as 1st orders get 25% off. Turned out to be a good idea as when I arrived @ 7:30pm (Saturday night) to collect my order the restaurant was bare as Mother Hubbard’s. I had some trepidation ordering because they don’t offer commonly recognisable dishes and secondly there are no beef dishes. Ordering blind can be fun when (when you’re OK with the outcome). Chicken tikka was the let down of the 3 mains, not unpleasant but nothing to make it stand out as a chicken curry with fried onions and capsicum. 2 lamb dishes similar to a Korma, Badami (with cream) and Nariyal (with coconut milk) the latter being the tastier. The food is very nicely cooked by non-smokers, because they weren’t excessively salty. But the meat content is meagre to say the least, which is reflected in the price and being halal. From a quality point of view I can’t fault this venue, but value for money, this would be an expensive take out for 2 but reasonable for a dine in @ approx $60-I hope this restaurant succeeds because of the quality of food but in my heart, I give them less than 12 months.
