One of the best places for sweet meats! And what a delight just to be here… amazing assortment of chocolates that are hand made and absolutely delicious. They even claim that many of them are from Lebanon. Irrespective of that, there is no denying that they have the most divergent collection of sweet meats, with or without nuts, Turkish delights, candies and a whole lot of freshly prepared Lebanese sweets and short bread. Their customer service seemed a tad disinterested in their customers, for a venue that is frequented by so many enthusiastic customers. They also have a high tea room. Fancy!
Endless selections of Lebanese treats. To be honest I have no idea what many of them are, so we got a couple boxes of assorted baklava. Love the pistachio one, the others were pretty good too, but can’t work out what flavours they are exactly.
We’ve never had Lebanese sweets before so we were feeling a bit adventurous. It was a little disappointing as despite their huge venue, we find the service quite lacking. We weren’t sure if it was table service and never got the tap water we requested. We had Ice cream and a cheesy crepe-like rolled up pastry. The ice cream is quite average but a safe choice. However the pastry was not for my palette, but I guess we should have stuck to the usuals :p They also had a minimum for Eftpos, which is 20$. With items selling for less than 10$ each (most pastries are $3-$5), I believe a %surcharge could be implemented instead. There were a few customers who had to cross the road to get cash.
Very close to the popular place El Jannah, quite popular for it’s Lebanese sweets. Huge place with an enormous amount of sweets on offer. I tried the cheese, chocolate, and pistachio kanafe with a plate of baklava and chocolate mousse. This was my first time trying kanafe and found the taste a bit too bland for my liking with almost no sweet. Although the baklava and mousse tasted great. I was quite bummed by the pricing as the cost half the rate on takeaway.
