If you’re a die-hard Lebanese food fan with a low benchmark then you found a place which will offer you food at a budget. I had the shish-tawouk which is marinated chicken thigh fillets cooked on skewer. The pieces were extremely small and it seemed like the 3 skewers were essentially one skewer cut up into pieces. The hommos started losing texture after 15min on the table which usually indicates the canned variety. Whilst El Khayal is one of the older names in the Lebanese food business, they really need to change their menu in order to win back some clients.
The food did the prancing.Compared to some of the other local Lebanese joints that are like show ponies, this is a work horse. Unassuming, hose out decor, nothing flash, but food was reasonable. Balance with dishes was acceptable, maybe a little heavy on lemon juice for eggplant dip, chicken was good, lamb not so.Large family gathering, enjoyed the atmosphere.
