Lovely service and lovely food! 🙂 only had enough time here to grab a cake and one of those amazing giant cookies!!! Couldnt believe how big they were and such amazing value.Definitely worth a visit and would love to go back for a proper meal
They see you eat with your eyes and ohh man this place does that saying justice. Not only does it look as good as it tastes, but the staff create this nice relaxed atmosphere. Everywhere you look there is something that catches your eyes, whether its the outdoor garden, quails or beautiful artwork this place is funky as! If you’re anything like me if I like a place I’m there for hours and that is what happened. The menu has a little bit of everything from breakfast to lunch, from sweet sensations to savoury bites. Crowd favourites Corn off the cob Fritters, Banoffee Buttermilk Pancake Stack, BBQ Duck and forest mushroom dumplings and the list could go on..Now I’m a sucker for sweet things so it comes to no surprise that when the pancake stack came out, it had me drooling. Soft, fluffy, warm and sweet, ticks all the boxes for what a good stack should taste like and if they could bottle up their sauce Dulce De Leche it would be sold out in hours…! (Highly Recommend)Plan a day out and make the most of what Newtown has to offer and be sure to grab one of their Famous Cookies the size of your face to go or one of the other sweet treats.I’m excited to see what they have installed for Dinners which are starting this August, so keep your eye’s peeled for more.
Really surprised by the cured salmon added to the soba noodles. More flavour than other cured salmon I’ve had. It made the noodles a really enjoyable light refreshing meal. A little too light for me so also ordered beer battered fries on the side. Which actually turned out to be bigger than I expected. It came with sauce but I found it too sweat and would have preferred more seasoning instead to the beautifully fried chips. Liked the decor. Staff were friendly. Food came out quickly.
This is a very trendy and cool cafe. I visited when I was in Sydney last with my niece and partner. There was only 4 other people in the in the cafe, but it took a while for them to get menus and our food. So thats what brought the stars down, keeping a toddler entertained when shes hungry is tough. Anyway the food came out and it was all very yummy! And my niece went hyper having the giant cookie which she loved. Anyway, I would recommend this place. Its very cool, in the Newtown hood so trendy area.
Close to the St Peters end of King Street in Newtown, Flour Drum is home to the giant cookies and is a truly magical place to enjoy a wholesome meal or just coffee and sweets with a friend. Always greeted with a genuine smile its impossible not to be happy and feel the good vibes as soon as you walk in. The first section of the cafe is all coffee and cakes! Their talented creative mind The Moonlight Baker is always dreaming up delicious sweet treats for their front displays. There is ample seating in the main dining area for big groups and events, then further back is a beautiful outside area filled to the brim with plants, flowers and all sorts of surprises. If youre a Pancakes for breakfast kinda person you simply cannot pass up their fluffy Banoffee Buttermilk Pancakes! Loaded with caramelised banana, dulce de leche, mascarpone whipped cream, Anzac Biscuits crumble and a toffee topper, we would go as far as saying these were the best pancakes we have had in Sydney in a very long time! If youre a savoury fan the Kweichow Moutai Prince house cured salmon with poached eggs is a fresh alternative to a Salmon Benedict. Topped with Flying Fish roe, potato hash browns and a fresh herb and pickled fennel salad this is a perfectly healthy GF option. We also loved the Open Faced Omelette with zucchini ribbons, edamame, red veined sorrel and radish, and has to try their perfectly curated Chia Pot with coconut water, strawberry jelly, cherry compote, lemon scented geranium, granola fruits and coconut yoghurt. Not sure if we will ever get a Chia Pot as incredible as this again. If you love sweets Flour Drum needs to be your go to! With chocolate studded cookies as big as your face, and all sorts of seasonal cakes, slices, tarts and home made ice creams. In true Christmas spirit the cafe is decked out ready for Santa to visit and munch on some boozy pudding and egg nog lamingtons. When visiting Sydney, we would highly recommend Flour Drum as one of your first brunch spots, as this cafe embodies the soul of the suburb and you will never be disappointed by the menu.
This is an ideal weekend brunch spot. They have plenty of dining space and waiting times are not longer than 10 minutes. Its situated in the quiet part of King Street and its not hard to find parking in the neighbourhood. The coffee was on point. Slightly smallish cup but delicious. We had the Avocado Smash and the Drum big breakfast. I must point out the Avo was special. They have done their twist on it and it hit the spot. Tangy and creamy and full of taste. Came with a side of tomato. The Drum big breakfast was quite a treat. There were greens which was quite a pleasant addition. The beans was quite unique and tasted amazing. There was a sweetness to it along with a hit of spice and veges. The bacon was worth commending. Quite juicy and delicious. I would definitely be visiting this caf again and strongly recommend it to everyone.
Ive been once before during day time for cake & coffee. Their selection of sweets in the cabinet is mouthwatering. Recently I went back to try their dinner menu. We really enjoy their crispy wontons, lime & chilli prawn angel hair pasta. Of course we had to try their desserts- they had Bombe Alaska and choc chip cookie dough skillet. We ordered both and loved them, especially the cookie dough! Friendly service and relaxed vibe, we had a great night here.
