This Hotpot is just unique and different to other Chinese hotpot. It origins from Southern part of China, Guangdong Province, where people there prefers original taste of foods rather than strong flavors. Beef Life hotpot has numerous parts of beef, and each of them have different cooking time and distinctive flavor. You can follow the cooking time one the table and enjoy the best beef hotpot.
Today, for the first time I ate at this restaurant. First let me tell you after spending $27 on a meal I left the restaurant while still hungry and I generally don’t need a lot of food to get full. I ordered a beef shank plate + small broth + spinach. When they served the food, the amount of meat was so little that if I put all the thin strips of meat together, it would have barely been a quarter of a normal sized steak. When I started eating, I realised the broth had absolutely no salt in it. So I asked the waiter for some salt and she charged me an extra $3 for the salt! This is the moment when I realised what a stupid thing I did with my money by coming to this restaurant! After finishing the beef and spinach, I tried to fill up my stomach by the simple and bland broth they gave me and in the end I had to eat again at home. If anyone wants some beef on George st, there are plenty of better options there offering more bang for your buck. One example is Pepper Lunch restaurant. I’ve been eating there since four years ago and I still go there a lot.
Always notice people crowding and lining up outside this place and was curious to give it a go. Waited >1 hr on a Sunday to get in for dinner. I’m familiar with hot pot, but not this type of dish in particular. I felt like the quality of the meat although was good, I expected better (the name is ‘beef life’ !) I felt like the cutting could be improved. The soup base tasted great – we had the original beef calcium soup. The bill came down to roughly $35 per person, and we left still feeling hungry. The service was great and the waiter Lyle was super lovely and friendly! Maybe it’s better for people who are familiar with this dish (heard it is very popular in china).
I waited there for 3hrs to be seated. Not that local flavor, but still quite yum. When I am homesick, properly I will go again. However, the satay sauce is too oily, and the fine slicing technique should be improved as well.
1st time try this beef hotpot. The place is quite small compare to hotpot place i used to go, but taste great.Lots of variety and specialise in beef. The beef ball is recommended Price is average Should try
