THE WORST CHINESE RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN. THE SERVICE, THE TASTE OF FOODS AND THE HYGIENE ARE ON THE LOWEST LEVEL. DO NOT EVER COME TO THIS RESTAURANT.
Very bad service. Asked for water to drink and they refused. Sign says eftpos is available and they refused that. Rude looks from waiters and lack of care. Don’t go here !!
The food was average and the service sucks. I was there for their small steamed buns, but the owner told us it was dinner time and there’s a minimum spending of 10bucks per person in a RUDE manner. It was fine that there is a minimum spending but that attitude was really bad.
We had very nice northern Chinese food. That oriental sweet and sour pork was so delicious. Also we had really nice dumplings. Nice food and will come again.
Can’t find appropriate words for it. A friend insisted going to this place as she was told the food was spectacular. When we stepped into the restaurant, the owner stopped us in a very rude tone that there was no table for us. And during the dinner, the service was like garbage. A waiter literally banged the food plates on our table which was extremely unprofessional it seemed as if the waiter was doing a favor by serving us. Regarding the food; it was average, However in regards to Service I give -1/10. I would NOT recommend anyone to dine at this place. It’s my honest criticism.
I have lived in Sydney most of my life and I have never had a worse dining experience than at this restaurant. My girlfriend and I were drudging down Dixon street with rumbling bellies at around 4pm in the afternoon, a risky time to get Chinese on any occasion. We stumbled upon New Chili House – Chinese Restaurant ( If you’re thinking this review is too long you’re wrong) Only a novella could possibly describe how terrible our experience was at this restaurant. When we arrived the waiter looked more concerned with having a conversation with his staff than seating us. A few minutes later we seated ourselves after he gestured for us to sit outside. He brought the menus out swiftly and threw them on the table as if to say let’s hurry this up. The pressure was on so we ordered our dishes straight away. He followed up with our drink order and looked openly displeased that we didn’t order something more expensive than soft drink. After 15 minutes of conversation with my partner the waiter returned with the wrong dish. He began to argue his case until he eventually took the dish away. The next dish to arrive was the duck. Microwaved and full of bones, we tried desperately to find any meat. Next the vegetarian dumplings, over cooked and soggy. Finally the dish we ordered originally, a classic Chinese/Australasian dish, the prawn dumplings. They were soggy and fell apart at the slightest touch, obviously overcooked. As I looked to my right it seemed our blissfully arrogant waiter was having his lunch next to us, the final nail so to speak in this dreary and morbid restaurant experience (I am not a creative writer normally, this experience inspired me to write). As my partner and I got up to leave the waiter who was sitting 2 feet away, got to his feet immediately as if to prevent us from doing a runner. His actions simply foreshadowing future generations of displeased patrons that will attempt to have a decent meal here. The final price for our meal was $67, the total for 2 entree sized dishes, 1 main and two cokes that should have cost roughly $56. We questioned our friendly waiters mathematical abilities, proclaiming that he may have charged us for the Dim Sims we did not order. Of course we were wrong. The classic hospitality credo had come undone before our eyes. The customer is actually wrong, always. We were too exhausted and honestly ambivalent to continue to question the friendly waiter (as I will now dub him). We left the restaurant and gazed into each others eyes with a look of resilience. The worst was behind us. Do not look at my review as some sort of self gratifying, narcissistic attempt to gain a laugh or a response. This was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had, therefore I felt compelled to write a long sturdy review. This is the first review I have ever left a restaurant, and that’s saying something!Don’t waste your time and money or dare submit your health to this restaurants Dixon Street charm. If the Merigold was open we would have gone there. Good luck!
One of the absolute worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. Gave us two serviettes for four people. Gave Fanta when we asked for sprite. Gave us the takeaway chopsticks when we asked for chopsticks when all other patrons got the black long ones served for the restaurant. Now the food. Prawn Dumplings were off and had to be sent back. Sizzling Mongolian with what 8 pieces of meat for $28??? Chicken and cashews – chicken was cut up so small as to look like there was a decent size. Literally 5 cashews and zucchini served with it????? Honestly wanted to cry after having spent $90 for the worst meal ever. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!! Wish I could give a zero rating
