I’ve been going to Old Town Hong Kong Cuisine since i was a uni student, and they never cease to amaze me, and i’m sure they’re sometimes opened after 2am at times ;)The food is amazing and made to order- i recommend their Peking duck bun and xiao long bao. A must have after a long day, or night out drinking.
Went there today with prejudiced expectation from previous reviews but thought wed give this a go since we have walked pass many times.Must admit the food was good. The Peking duck Bun was crispy with generous shavings of veggie. The suckling pig fried rice in lotus leaf smeltfragrant and tasted even better. Pleasantly surprised by the pork chop curry rice- thought it would be a meat / protein fest but it was balanced with some eggplant and French beans. Also the roast port with egg noodle (attacked the plate too soon for me to stop and take a pic) was expertly cut into (gentlemenly) bite sized portions. Typically Chinese roast meats shops or takeaways serve you bricks which you then need to quarter on your own but someone in the kitchen knows how to handle a cleaver here. Noodles were springy and great texture. Not sure what other reviewers are moaning about the service… its not personal butler level but its not prison guard level either!!And why not 5? Price is abit in the high side.
We came here today after a long trip home from the coast. Decided to stop by to satisfy the Asian tastebuds !! The staff are reasonably nice and efficient for Chinatown – normally you only experience the latter. We ordered small tapas side dishes, Pork dumplings , prawn dumplings , the duck buns, onion pastries and pork and vege fried dumplings . It was a tasty feed , I even forgot to take photos , so only a few today. The dumplings were nice and plump . I thought the fillings were generous and plentiful in comparison to your regular yum cha places. The chestnuts in the prawn dumplings were also crunchy and I felt satisfied that they were not frozen or canned… good feed before arriving home . We love our Asian food .
