Tried this Lychee cake with coconut jelly topping recently for a birthday. It is layered with fresh cream on the inside, the sponge was soft and fluffy. Quite yummy! theengineereats.com
Nice Chinese style bakery deep within the Chinatown area at Prince Centre, the focus is mostly on sweet confectionaries rather than the savoury. The specialty is definitely the taro cake (not to be confused with the Taro roll) however they only sell it as a whole and not in slices.
Love the taro and yogurt cake. nice and clean Japanese cake shop, brought back my memory in Japan. My favorite was passion fruit yogurt cake but they stopped selling it a while ago. Taro cake also delicious, used to ate half of it by myself for the 6-inch one 😛
My favorite place for Chinese cake. The taro cake is the best. Reasonable price, sponge cake base, full of flavor, never been too sweat not too oilly. Like it.
Picked up a few Swiss rolls from here yesterday. At $4.00 each they’re pretty reasonably priced. The taro was definitely my favourite – being the sweetest of the cakes. The almond roll was delicious too. Unfortunately I wasn’t huge on the black sesame flavour – not sweet enough for me! Will definitely be back to try a taro cake! lapetitebobo.com
love the cakes at savoy. jap style. light and not too sweet. place looks clean. my fav is the cheesecake amd the taro. would love to try the lychee too. location is not the best tho. bit hidden amd a hike to get to.
This place is well known for its taro cake and they don’t sell it in individual pieces unfortunately.. Since there’s no birthday coming and a whole round cake is too much for both of us, we opted for their sponge rolls.. The rolls were so fluffy and light with the right amount of sweetness.. And my favourite flavour is definitely their Black Sesame as the Taro one is unfortunately too subtle.. letsnomnom.net
