I’ve walked past this restaurant many times. Being close to Chinatown and upstairs in an RSL I thought Meh! Well stupid me, I decided to go up the slowest lifts in Sydney and entered a huge dining space. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive and the menu is extensive with great meals and the price is so inexpensive. We choose Spring Rolls, Sanbei Chicken (no bone) and Fried rice. The meal was absolutely delicious and the food portion was excellent. We will return for sure!
Hidden away in the city RSL, I was super excited to see Wangwang had come closer to the city. I am a big fan of their radish buns and always had to travel to Kingsford just to get them – but they are now located right next to work and home! I like this place better than its Kingsford store. Menu is slightly different and a little more expensive but that is to be expected for the area. Food was pretty yummy – definitely was not fresh but it was what nice greasy Chinese food should taste like. I highly recommend the radishes as well if you are a fan of radish – these were nice and crispy with just the right balance of shallots and dried prawns – a big winner for me! Also ordered the squid legs in chilli wok – wasnt expecting it to be Sichuan but there it came out filled with peppers and chill. This was ok but very limited squid legs and too much garnish. The eggplant with potato and capsicum was pretty tasty too. Fried rice worked well with everything. Partner had the vinegar pork ribs which we said was pretty tasty too. To top it off, the owner was super hospitable and friendly. He was definitely refreshing from what you usually get at Chinese restaurants. Overall, despite everything not being fresh I will let this slide as I always love the occasional greasy heavy Chinese food. The food serving was also a little small for the price you paid for each dish. However, service and tastiness definitely elevated this experience (plus the radishes are the bomb!) Since they are located in the RSL, they also have a bar in the restaurant which sells jugs for a reasonable price ($9). Would definitely come back for another try of their menu. I feel like theyve picked a bad spot to open up shop though – it seems like one of those places that misses a lot of its customers since its so hidden away. Interior is great and you can tell hygiene of the restaurant is very clean compared to its other franchise in Kingsford. Would highly recommend to give them a go (and help out their business).
