A friend recommended this place and we went there on a busy Sunday night. Waiting was 10-15 minutes short and we ordered first while waiting. Food and service was lovely (except the fact that it seems like their waitresses and waiter has no specific area with which tables they attend so we ended up interacting with 10 different servers and having to repeat ourselves) we also have to call for their attention as they dont really check back with us for the soup. They also forgot 2-3 of our things which we only realised when we left the place while looking at the photos we took. Overall food and meat quality is excellent except I wouldnt recommend the prawns as it seemed average and not as fresh:( lets hope they keep the quality up post opening hype 🙂 ps: try their shrimp paste!
Umm what can I say about this place except how much it has exceeded my expectations. We cannot stop talking about it and have recommended it to our friends and family. One hell of an experience guys. Food, service, atmosphere, aesthetics, just everything was perfect. If youre visiting, definitely recommend booking first!
Mmmmm….what a great experience here at Dolar shop! Ive never been to a Chinese restaurant with such fantastic customer service. Upon arrival, there was a 20 minute wait so we were provided some fruit sticks, lollies, lemon water and plum juice. Upon entering the restaurant, every staff member literally would turn around to say hi and welcome. The staff were so welcoming. So you order your own broth and share your hotpot toppings with those on your table. They have this really yummy sauce called the dolar soy sauce. The staff member will offer to make this for you. It tastes great. There is also a whole row of other sauces which you can choose from. Great variety and also good quality. The food comes out pretty quickly and the staff who come over are very friendly. They ask you if youve been before and give you advice on how long to cook the meat for. It was really a great experience. The meat quality is also superb. Melts in your mouth and is brought to you fresh. Although the hotpot broth isnt the best Ive had and was more on the salty side (had the schezuan flavour one), the overall experience was so pleasant and the quality of the ingredients was refreshing. Id highly recommend coming here for your first hotpot experience.
The Sydney location is the first Dolar shop I’ve ever been too, and it reminds me a lot of Haidilao. There is a central kitchen area where you can see all the ingredients being freshly cut and prepared. The atmosphere is great here, and is clearly quite high end compared to typical hot pot joints.Soup bases here are exquisite, and honestly if you’re eating hot pot out, the soup is the differentiating factor (most other ingredients can be bought for a fraction of the cost at an Asian grocer, sliced meat can be sourced from Asian butchers). Personal favourite is the tomato oxtail, rich and flavourful.Good variety of homemade fish balls, cuttlefish and fish roe is great. Lots of choices of high end beef, but I actually find there is no need to splurge as their lamb and brisket are the most suitable options for hot pot, anything better is kind of a waste being boiled. Seafood is priced decently and their handmade noodles are great too.Sauce station has excellent variety. They will bring around condiments that make up their own siganture sauce mix, which goes quite nicely with beef.Overall a great place to splurge with friends once in a while.
1st time here, located on top floor of Market City, where used to be food court.Nice ambience, modern look and cozy.Very good service. Its a hotpot restaurant. You choose your own soup base fromnon spicy to very spicy ($10.50 per bowl upward) and then choose the meat where you can share.Beef, seafood, vegie, mushroom where excellent fresh. Also, I choose mild sezhuan soup base but too spicy and ask to change it to mushroom soup base. Luckily they changed it at no cost – thank you Price wise above average, but worth to try.Maybe avoid the seafood platter Recommended
The best hotpot restaurant Ive been to at a non-vegetarian restaurant. Each customer gets their own hotpot which is more hygienic, I had the mushroom broth. We shared a variety toppings including of a veggie basket & hand crafted noodles. For only an extra $3 per person, we had access to a table of sauces (my favorite was the mushroom sauce) & fruit. Our waiter was also the most attentive & patient person ever. Highly recommend coming here.
