Appalling management and inadequate food. We will never eat here again. We were seeing a show at the capital theatre and arrived here over an hour beforehand. The staff were made aware of this and said it would be fine. We were waiting a while to order so we grabbed a waitress instead. 30 mins after we ordered, we still had no food. We asked the staff and were told it would arrive in 8 minutes (at this point we only had 20 mins left). 1 dish arrived in the next 10 minutes. That was all. It was 4 thin squares of salmon and broccolini that was wooden and inedible. The entree and other mains never came so we asked if they could feed us anything at all!!!?? They said no and told us we would have to wait another 5 minutes (after we had been there 1 hour). We had to leave not to miss our show.

Bought voucher on Scoopon- was unable to book 2 weeks in advance to preferred dining dates as website for booking wasnt working. Called restaurant who said they werent booked out for this time and try again online later. Same issue 5 days before date we wanted to dine. Called again at this time to try book via phone, as I had noticed other reviews stating the same issue had occurred and they had been able to book via phone. Again told they were not booked out but have been told by their manager they arent allowed to take any bookings via phone. (We would be happy to dine at any time at all in the next week) Discussed that we were only in Sydney for the next 5 days and still could waitress refused phone booking via phone. Unable to use voucher, Scoopon refused refund. My advice is to not buy this voucher if you have a certain time frame to use it in. While I am aware of the fine print for refunds and this is generally a risk when using Scoopon, Ive never had issues like this with any company using Scoopon previously. The inability of this company to compromise given issues with online booking system is ridiculous and the staff were generally pretty rude about it…

Udon as it came in a slightly sweet soy base; and prawn tempura that’s crunchy and evenly battered. Spring rolls were also good, very crunchy on the outside and not greasy like some places can be. Lovely Japanese restaurant. Good portion size. Great ambience. Love the bento box combinations. Worth a visit

The sashimi was far from fresh, it also had a strange colour and looked almost off. The serving of beef in the wagyu salad was extremely small and disappointing, and didn’t taste like wagyu at all. The sushi rolls were okay, nothing special. Service was average.

Had dinner at Yumei one night after getting a voucher from the Internet – half price dining! There are a variety of food on offer, we had the Sakura platter (assorted sashimi and Sushi) which was fresh and nice. The crab croquette and gyoza were in the so so category, the Karaage chicken was good. Slight hit and miss. theengineereats.com

Walked pass this place and was enticed by their comprehensive menu. Ordered their wagyu heef tataki salad, Yumei Bento and Bento C. The food came reasonably quick. Tataki wasn’t the best one we had but can’t really complain. Both Bento taste nice. We were too hungry to take pictures. They all looked very similar to the ones on the menu any way.

Yumei is a Japanese restaurant located in the foodcourt next to Capitol theatre. I had a Groupon voucher which let me try a basket of tempura and sashimi platter with a bottle of sake. This deal was to share between two, which simply wouldn’t have been enough food. However the two of us came prepared with a voucher each. The tempura basket contained prawns and various vegetables. The batter had a bit of crunch but was slightly bland, though the vegetables themselves were delicious and fresh. Likewise the prawns still had a slightly salty edge that was enjoyable. The sashimi platter arrived with kingfish, tuna, salmon and two oysters. The salmon was arguably the most fresh out of the three types of fish and its texture was perfectly soft. I also really enjoyed the oysters as they provided a nice briny and salty hit that was amplified from a generous splash of soy sauce. I found the sake I picked was rather punchy and it had a noticeable salty flavour that I didn’t enjoy much. However Yumei have a variety of sake so if you are looking to order some, talk with the waitstaff for their suggestion. The restaurant is often on Groupon so look out for a meal deal! Keep in mind that for my experience the size suggestion wasn’t adequate for my appetite. eatventures.net
