A small takeaway place in homebush serving Indian , Sri Lankan and Malaysian dishes. Very cheap prices. Almost 1/3rd of what you will pay in a restaurant. But then the taste is not that great. Quantity is good. A go to place when you’re short on budget and want some quick food.
Quite good try the biryani combo for around 12 $ .Also the rice and 5 curries for 8.5 $ is also nice . Dosa , naan tandoori chicken, puttu,rolls etc are all passable. Overall its all quite nice. I would rate Raams in Flemington much higher than this , but in terms of variety it beats it hands down. CHeap no frills food quite enjoyable.
Haven’t eaten any of the curries from here – but I always stop by and grab a snack from the window for $1-$2 each. Personally love the vegetable roll (crumbed and deep fried potato-type curry), and the vegetable roti. Sweet dough balls (not sure what they are called) are good too 🙂
Just now i bought idli for my mother who is sick, they gave me the fresh ones n the sambar n chutney was soo much for one plate of idli. Infact it looks like a family meal.. thanks shakthi n thanks to the girl served me…
I have been in this take away in number of times for its some delicious curries were awesome like butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, in the other hand its customer service appears terrible and rubbish, a boy standing in the counter till the closing time with poor knowledge of English language, was unable to explain and recommend the dishes properly in English, some of the items like white lentil vada and Jaffna Dosa were in raw I bought sometimes. They do charge a dollar in extra for cards are ridiculous and funny.
Had a very pleasant experience today getting some takeaways from Shakthi. Let the owner recommend their dishes turns out to be a great decision. They ran out of eggplant today so got their okra instead. Must be my lucky day as I can’t imagine from what’s left that the eggplant would be better than the okra. They were making their roti when I arrive so strongly recommend you arrive before noon to get their freshest stock. I paid approx 10 dollars including drink for the amount of food that can easily satisfy family of three. Bottomline : Great food. Good service. Top value.
