I’ve always walked past every Sahara Grill I’ve seen in food courts, but I decided to stop by and give this a try finally. I ordered a chicken, cheese, and spinach gozleme, a lamb shish roll, and a Pepsi. The gozlemes are all premade, which was a little disappointing, and I felt a bit wary about it, thinking it would maybe be just warm or slightly cold even, and perhaps a bit soggy. Surprisingly, it was very hot, and not soggy at all, with the edges still nice and crispy. The fillings were flavorful, and piping hot, with the chicken being plentiful, and still quite juicy and tender. All in all, delicious, and not what I had expected. The lamb shish roll was a little less delicious, with the roll itself being quite small compared to the usual size of the kebabs you’d expect from these types of shops. The lamb was a bit dry and tough to chew, the fillings were a little lacking, and it was a little too heavy on the sauce. The bread itself was also cold, they don’t toast it like every other place usually does. The service was the biggest let down of all. The man who served us appeared very laid back and chilled, yet somehow he wasn’t very friendly at all. Instead, he came across as a bit lazy and distracted; he forgot our lamb order and had to ask us to repeat it, and then walked over to the counter to ring up our order and in that space of time, forgot again, and had to ask us for our order again. Then, I asked for a can of Pepsi and he came back with a bottle of Pepsi Max, so I asked him if I could have a can of the regular Pepsi instead, and he turned around and changed the bottle of Pepsi Max to a bottle of the regular Pepsi, but still not the can, although I didn’t want to correct him again so I just took it. I watched him cooking the lamb and after a while, I was convinced he forgot about it, as I could see it starting to burn a little. When he finally remembered, it was a bit burnt, and I watched him take it off the coals and then use a knife to scrape away the burnt bits, before putting it into my roll. However, this place is very cheap, my total bill was $25.50, and to be honest, you can’t expect too much from food court shops.TIP: the lamb shish took a while to cook so if you’re in a hurry, perhaps consider getting something other than their shish menu. knifeforknchopsticks.com
Food was reasonably good. However, wait times are unreasonably long. Customer service, even by Sydney takeaway standards, is extremely poor. Staff seem to lack basic knowledge and experience in dealing with customers – including offering a smile, greeting, or even a thank you.
The gozlemes are fluffy, kind of juicy (??), and a decent portion (around 8 slices for $10). I would recommend the spinach and feta gozleme, the feta is creamy and tastes fresh.
Were in the mall and decided to have this. Ordered the wrap and chips. They first had our order wrong and the guy had such rude attitude and was annoyed that we told him he got our order wrong. Flavour was good, but a little messy to eat.
The food here is very very average. The rice was terrible and cold. The food looks so sloppy on the plate and was unappealing. The service is terrible. There’s no proper lines and people were being served before those who were waiting for service. I won’t be back.
Loved it! Stopped in for lunch and ordered a double plate. I got skewer of chicken and lamb. $17. The lamb was delicious soft and tender and the chicken amazing peppery yumminess. The cabbage salad and tomato salad fresh not soggy and yummy pita bread. Plus engaging warm service. Loved it.
