Since new management took over four months ago, this cafe has had a complete refurbishment with the large woodfired oven being the last remaining artefact from the last business. From the Rochester street entrance to the cafe, you dont realise how spacious it is inside, and it is a venue large enough to host functions and large gatherings. The food offering is Mediterranean, as highlighted by a brunch of baked eggs with feta and Greek iced coffee. Coffee is house roasted onsite and its quite mesmerising watching the beans turn from a green brown hue to their more familiar dark roasted state.

We came by to Urbano for a birthday lunch with some family. I was really pleased by the friendly staff and interiors. What I learnt about the restaurant is that it used to home to a locksmith and his store, before being converted into a pizza and pasta restaurant with a wood fired oven right inside. Ambiance: 9/10I really loved the exposed brick, exposed wooden pillars, and alfresco style painting throughout the restaurant. The splashes of green bring out the colors, making the overall seating warm and inviting. I liked the basic wooden tables, with metal chairs – it’s nothing too fancy. Service: 8/10Service was friendly and helpful, though one staff member did forget the names of the plates arriving (she was absolutely lovely, but you have to know what you are serving!). Food came to us quickly, which I loved, and the staff really catered to our requirements. Menu: 7/10I liked the general menu, though I did find it frustrating that the ‘daily specials’ weren’t actually for today. We learnt this when we asked for a particular item off that menu. The menu otherwise features plenty of options for various tastes and dietary requirements, and the staff are more than happy to cater for requirements too.Value for Money: 8/10Prices are really reasonable, in particular the serving sizes are great.Food: 9/10Food was really simple, but very enjoyable. I recommend the zucchini flowers, dipping platter, and the diavolo pastas. Overall: 8/10 Definitely a great local find! theminiaturelife.com
