Simple but tasty breakfast menu. Don’t go if you’re looking for anything left of centre, there’s not much choice but the coffee is good and what they do have they do well. I asked for gluten free toast with my omelette which they did, but they only have me half a piece….what did they do with the other half?!
Disappointing. I recently stopped into the restaurant for a coffee, and being a hot day, requested iced coffee (including ice cream). Had requested this on 2 previous occasions only to be told, they make milk coffee and add an ice cube. Surely its not too difficult to add a scoop of ice cream to please a local? Especially when that local is in a party of 5 other ‘locals’Having received our iced coffees, made to our recipe, we proceeded to pay. The bill – an outrageous $9.50 each! The arrogant attitude of the waiter explaining that it was $6.50 for the coffee and a further $3.00 for the teaspoon of ice cream only leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth for the service in this restaurant.
Le village hunters hill. A little piece of France in Hunters Hill . Good food and excellent friendly service. Love it,
Wonderful food and service. The decor of this very French bistro is sophisticated and stylish without being overdone. The first time we came here for dinner, we were served attentively and our orders taken swiftly. We started with some fresh olives and warm baguette bread, after which we were served with a complimentary canape which was even tailored to be vegetarian for the vego at the table. Two of us shared the roasted chateaubriand which came with roasted sweet potato and buttered beans ($75). The meat was rich, velvety and delicious according to the pair, while the beans were yummy and the sweet potato seriously moreish. My dish of pan-fried gnocchi with truffled mushrooms and parmesan was delectable- full-flavoured without being overpowering. My one thought is that it could have a little more parmesan. We order two desserts- the creme brulee ($14.50) and the chocolate mousse ($14.50)- both are just perfect and tasted divine. On our second trip we had breakfast- the salmon and chives, and ham and cheese omelettes ($14) were well-received, as was the smoked salmon scrambled eggs ($16). The poached eggs with avocado and feta ($16), while not a huge serve, was very tasty. The avocado was flavoured to bring out the best in it, the poached eggs were gooey inside, and the feta was the best- if only there was a little more of it! We also had some of their special house-made lemonade which was very tasty as well.Service has always been stellar and we seriously recommend!
Poached Egg, Smashed Avocado, Feta Cheese on Sourdough. Recommended.
A great night. After reading the reviews I was apprehensive about what to expect for a surprise 50th birthday dinner last night for a group of 18. In contrast to the reviews, the service was excellent, attentive and professional, and the food matched it. Complimentary ameuse bouche of escargots to start, and a three course meal with three choices per course. The general consensus was they were all delicious which is sometimes hard to achieve with a large group, no hiccoughs in the service whatsoever and a great night all round.
Good food but disgusting service – blatantly rude and arrogant
