We were craving for some traditional Hong Kong cafe (Cha char teng) style food and wanted to try something new. Its our first time here and I liked the decor. It was clean and spacious with nice photographs of Hong Kong. We found out after we arrived that they didnt serve baked rice at night time, dinner menu is actually more like a Cantonese restaurant where you order mains. We decided to try the 2 person set which comes with your choice of 2 dishes plus dish of veggies, rice and soup. I felt it was pretty reasonable value but the taste was only so-so. Service was prompt and polite.
Can Igive 0 points?Worst Friday night dinner never. Fish is undercook and services are very bad.Manager refuses to cancel this undercook dish and been very rude to us.
Overheard people chatting about this place on the streets of Hurstville so decided to give it a try. Brought my family with me and ordered a 4-person banquet type deal. $64.80 included 3 dishes + 1 veg dish, boiled rice and dessert. Not a bad price for a family dinner out. Food was decent – portions were a bit small but tasted like authentic Hong Kong cuisine! Great atmosphere and attentive service.
Waitor served us the normal menu at first. But knowing that we got Scoopon coupon, they changed another menu and the price is much more expensive. The dish on the menu as a set costs $19.80. However, they said it’s not dinner set if you use Scoopon (normal menu shows $16.80 only with 1 dish of your choice, a bowl of rice and soup). That means, you have to pay $3.00 more but without rice and soup!!It’s just cheating customers with pre-paid coupons bought from discounted websites. 2 sets of menu, one normal price, one overpriced.Went to other Scoopon/Groupon deals restaurants and never have this experience before. Will NOT come again. Food is average, portion is small with regard to the price.
Food is really below average and apparently overpriced. Soup is yuck. Worst experience for me recently. Will never visit it a second time. Very Disappointed.
When i saw this open up, i was really excited to see a new Hk Cafe open up. I was extremely keen on trying out the food. I came here a few times the quality of food isn’t too bad and my partner likes one specific dish. The chef knows what he is doing. The biggest downfall is the service and value. The food here is outstandingly expensive. They are charging high tier Chinese food prices for lower atmosphere and service. I think it was like $20-25 a dish. I was actually quite annoyed at the waiter, quite obviously he was the owner and he kept pushing and pushing me to order the set menu and tried to convince me it was the best value for money. I gave in only because it was my first time. Tried the menu.. average at best.
I’ve only had a few afternoon tea’s here and every time it was outstanding just like Hong Kong with super sized portion meals.Spicy fried pork instant noodles is the must have ultimate unhealthy afternoon tea, it is damn tasty! Don’t be scared and brain washed by this organic, superfood hype in every hipster cafe out there, instant noodles once a week or so is not gonna kill ya. There is absolutely nothing wrong with canned pork and instant noodles stirred fried to perfection- YUM! Trying the French toast next time, also must try the iced lemon tea/tea/milo/horlicks ~
