In the old days when Otsu first opened, I have many doubts about this little cafe. Not sure which coffee beans they are using now, but back then it just tasted like burnt coffee, roughly bitter. The fish shape Japanese waffle or taiyaki was soggy, and they didnt have the soft serve like now. So immediately after two occasions I stopped coming here. It took Otsu a long while to hit the right spot. They introduced new items in the menu, like fresh juice, aai, toast and eggs, etc. But most importantly, the soft serve ice cream machine; the cold drinks (milk shakes & frappes); shave ice bowl, and the immense improvement on the taiyaki. These waffles taste delicious though I would prefer the outer layer to have more crunchiness. My favourite flavours are custard and Nutella. Quite ironically as a matcha fan, I didnt really enjoy the green tea flavour.
$ 6 combo for 1 taiyaki ( any flavour ) and a small coffee.I choose the signature taiyaki, which is a mixture of red bean, matcha custard and green tea mochi. Its a nice little Japanese Dessert, perfect combo to have after lunch!
My favourite matcha ice cream in Sydney so far … They also make Taiyaki fresh on the spot. The ice cream is Rich and creamy so it fits with a matcha latte float. asianfoodninja.com
cute little place hidden beside hurstville station. I got their red bean taiyaki which was actually so nice. It was fluffy, warm, moist and the perfect level of sweetness.
Cute design and I liked their nutellataiyaki. Not a big fan for their other flavours. But I did appreciate their cheap prices and friendly service. Would probably come back if I pass by Hurstville after a meal and just order the nutella one.
The guys who work their are super hot but super rude ;-;. I would rate it 5 Stars but they took a long time to give us what we ordered. Faster service wouldve been nice but it tasted good and we got what we asked for.
This is a pretty nice spot for dessert located close to the train station. I really liked their taiyaki (Japanese fish shaped waffles) which were made fresh and stuffed with a generous amount of filling(s). It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I had the Signature Otsu with matcha custard, red bean and green tea mochi inside and I really liked it. The matcha soft serve is also pretty good: smooth texture, good matcha flavour and not too sweet.
