Terrible. We ordered the rare beef pho, salt and pepper bait fish and T-bone steak. There’s light pho broths and then there’s this place which is closer to hot water dumped onto rice noodles and beef. I’ve tried pho all around Sydney and at this place there was absolutely no flavour to the broth. The bait fish was equally disappointing – no flavour, the battered part tasted stale and you could tell the meat was frozen and slightly mushy. We ordered a medium T-bone steak which came out well done and it sat on top of chips which were tasted like old chips that were re-fried. Look I get its cheap but food should be edible. I get that this is the foodscape of Hurstville – low price and high quantity and some might prefer this but personally for me it is a no go.
Shocking! This place has decreased immensely in the quality of food, service and the atmosphere of this place is never renewed and consistently not properly cleaned and filthy. I used to come here often as the pho was extremely hearty though when I compare my experience now, it has significantly worsen. I recalled being served the tomato beef brisket egg noodles on two different occasions and having it impossible to enjoy. The noodles were so heavily seasoned that it got to a point where you can taste nothing except for the unpleasant saltiness. The last time I visited, the orders were mixed up and the food portions had significantly dropped. The service is one of the worst I had ever experienced. The women at the counter never shows any manners with a straight face having said no words other than the price. No hellos or thank you was also ever said. The restaurant setting is appalling too. On nearly every table I can assure you the chairs or tables are rocky with tarnished carpet and the lounges at the back at either torn or littered with tissue on the floor. Definitely not the best experience.
Great place for fast, cheap food. One thing i have to say is that the quantity they serve is quite low. There was barely any rice noodle in my Combination Chow Mein although putting the complaint a side, that dish is one of my favourites.
The Meridian Hotel Brasserie is a delightful place to eat whether for lunch or dinner.I normally come here with my family. The noodle is delicious and they normally give you a lot although once i had at least a hand full of noodles.I remember i had the pho and the bean sprout, we found a mysterious black square. The waitress is extremely rude with a really bad attitude.>:(
Good place for cheap feeds while you watch the latest sports. Pho, Chicken Vermicelli Salad, Combination Chow Mian and Pork Chops are what we always get and you can never go wrong with any of those. And the food comes out real quick. They just desperately need an refurb.
The outside of this place looks quite outdated, the inside of the place wasn’t any better, the food is reasonable at $10.80 a dish but this pub could do with a makeover. Got the peppered beef and tomato rice. I could tell when I was served the dish that the tomato rice wasn’t fresh it was like they had it cooked and stored in fridge and then just warmed up again. The beef was a bit tough as well but had enough of a sauce to not be too dry the capsicum was good although the onions and red pepper were overcooked. The wait staff weren’t that attentive all in all I didn’t like the overall experience of this place. I won’t be coming back.
Tempted by the nice pictures, yummy smell and good price, we decided to give this one a go.Cheap Asian food inside the pub., this bistro adopted similar concept as the now defunct Yum Yum Brasserie in Auburn. Only if the food taste half as nice..Ordered the Yang Chow Fried rice, King Prawn Chow Mien and Beef Ball Pho. While the food is edible, it lacks the wow factor we normally expect from dining in a Bistro.Just like the other Brasserie inside the pub, you take care of everything yourself from the food, cutlery and condiments. With all new and fancy eateries opening in Hurstville, this place needs to up the ante in order to stay relevant.Bottomline : Okay food. What service?. Fair value as the price is just on par with the quality.
