The Spot: we were combing through the main street as we waited for the antique shops to open, and I remember seeing this name pop up on the net. Despite heading to brunch shortly, we popped in for a treat. The place was small, but displayed very enticingly. A lot of outdoor seating. The Service: nondescript as it was a quick interaction, but they seemed to have a great relationship with the localsThe Food: their spread was definitely several steps above your typical offerings in conventional bakeries. We lamented over not being able to try them all. We chose the Pear and Ginger Cake and the Apple Pie. They didn’t seem to have utensils so it was a great excuse to stick our faces in, sans elegance. I’ve had pear and ginger cake elsewhere before, but this one was strong and dark in flavour and was perfectly moist (sorry). The apple pie had a crumbly top and a soft base and the filling was smooth and not tart at all. It was a tad too sweet for me, but that is my personal taste.Overall, I wish I did more research prior as I now know about their famous potato bread and pies :O I’m so disappointed we don’t live closer, but I’ll 100% return if I’m even in the area.

This little bakery on the main street of Katoomba seems to have a big reputation. The small space was absolutely packed and people weaving in & out non stop. There is a selection of freshly baked breads, pies, sweet & savoury pastries & cakes. The chunky beef pie was delicious, the only downside was that the pastry was a bit thick & soggy on the bottom. The churros was great – light & fluffy. Absolutely loved the chocolate hazelnut cake – so decadent & delicious & the apple & pear cake was also a hit & must. Got some sourdough to go and so glad I did. They are made the proper way, not just a sour taste added to it. It was dense yet fluffy, nutty & had a great crust. Service can be a bit short tempered but you have to cut them some slack when they seem to be run off their feet all day.
