Relaxing Saturday tea with hubby in the Blue Mountains. A high tea set will be good if we didn’t have lunch, so we decided to go for just scones this times. Scones are the basic item on a high tea menu, if you do your scones right, other items on the menu must hold good standards.Scones are warm and in good shape, homemade strawberry jam has good natural flavour. If Lilianfels could serve the scones with real Devonshire clotted cream, that would bring them up to another level.
We had the high tea. There was plenty of food to enjoy. We sat and enjoyed everything. We couldn’t eat it all, they gave us container so we could take away. We came back to have a cocktail before dinner. I though I gave us enough time so we could enjoy. But didn’t think it would take 15 mins before we got them. Which mean we had to rush drinking our cocktails. The staff are very friendly.
We came to Lilianfels for high tea recently and we’re a little underwhelmed. While there was plenty of food for the high tea, some of the quality was a little disappointing. The fruit scone was stale and the savory selection was also not to our taste with an egg frittata that was mushy and underwhelming. Once we were seated and our food served not once did staff come and check to see how we were or if we required anything at all. Its not like they were busy either and a simple check if we needed more water or if everything was satisfactory would have been appreciated. The lounge area was lovely to sit in but I wouldn’t hurry back.
My friend and I planned a day out to Katoomba and the main attraction of the day was high tea at Lilianfels. I was disappointed that we had to pay for street parking even though we were customers, they should have reimbursed us or allowed us to park in Lilianfels. It seems only hotel guests have this privilege.I ordered a vegan high tea when I booked and I was very happy with the food. There were only a few other customers there and the waiter seated us at a small table. We spent the day chatting and enjoying the quiet.
Absolute rubbish. Got a glass of water with a staple in it, sent it back and they didn’t even offer me anything for nearly choking me! Then my husbands food came out cold so we had to send it back. I paid $15 for the soup which was about 5 spoonfuls of food. Service is average. Don’t bother!
