At the top of Katoomba Street, the Old City Bank is a well located watering hole popular with locals and tourists alike. For a local pub experience, The Old City Bank is a genuine Katoomba locality when being relaxed is the top priority.
I expected more of this pub but was disappointed. The service was good but it was noisy. I ordered the beef and ale pie and it was just average – I could make a better one at home… It didn’t quite WOW me. My companion ordered the pulled beef tortillas but we weren’t sure where the beef was. Unfortunately we won’t be back.
On arrival the pub and entrance was lovely, served downstairs from friendly staff drinks. However when we went upstairs to the dining area a waitress informed me that I couldn’t take some menus from the table as she had not given them too us even though she had been ignoring us the whole time. She then continued to ignore us even when we tried to wave her down. Which she smiled and waved back rudely. After she decided we were worthy of getting served she came over and took our order smugly. I asked her if she was the manager. She wasn’t. The manager also talked to her pointed and laughed at our table and made it blatantly obvious they were talking about us. I felt very discriminated against as a gay man. She obviously had a problem with me and our group. I really hope she learns some self value or finds herself as she really upset my group and I. They also refused to give me her name but I took a photo of her and I’m going to post it here.
