This dinner was the highlight of my stay in the Blue mountains. Delicious food, live music and delightful service. We left with full bellies and all smiles! Do yourself a favour & check it out the look out across the road too- you won’t regret it!
Visited for lunch. About a dozen diners. A pleasant waitress albeit s little difficult to understand. We ordered a bread baguette which was served without butter. Our entrés were quite nice. Mains underwhelming- roast suckling pig turned out to be rather tasteless pulled pork formed into a brick shape with a sheet of crisp skin on top. We ordered two side dishes; when the meals were served we were told there was going to be a delay with the side dishes. When they had failed to appear as we completed our meals we complained to the waitress who finally reappeared with said dishes, an apology which included we would not be charged for the two dishes – an appreciated gesture but it didn’t really compensate for the spoiling of our meals. Over all a disappointing dining experience for what was a birthday treat for family members.
Food 2.5Service 2.5Atmosphere- 4.5Value – 3Entree – crab ravioli which was the worst of all the dishes. Pasta was hard and chewy. Suspect it was made elsewhere or hadn’t been stored properly after rolling (I make my own fresh pasta and it has never been hard)Smoked salmon salad as they had run out of trout. Simple ingredients, classic flavors, presented beautifully.Main – beef something? Honestly not sure what cut it was. Thought it was meant to be rib eye but wasn’t so quite expensive for a very cheap, slow cook cut. Tasty and tenderDuck 2 ways – breast skin hadn’t been rendered enough and wasn’t crispy but the meat was nice. Sous vide leg was delish. Super salty which I quite like. Cepes was strange but nice. Not earthy tasting which is what you’d expect.Desert – creme brulee and chocolate fondant. Both very nice.Wine – some very expensive half carafe which I suspect had been opened many days prior. Not good!$230 for 2
We dined at the Rooster on a Saturday and ordered two dozen escargot, liver pate and the monkfish and truffle pie. All were fantastic, the pie was not large for $40 and truffle shavings were small, here and there. The monkfish had lovely texture though. The white bread given with the escargot and pate were very dry and seemed like it had not been freshly cut. Overall pleasant experience in an interesting venue.
Woow !!! The taste of the food is like we are in France.A must for any French cuisine lover. We will definitely come back. Wooow!!! That is all that I can say 🙂
