Looking to escape 2017 and head back in time? Well Gertude and Petunias can do that for you, with their retro English/Parisianthemed caf with large chandeliers, mirrorsand artwork on the wallsand big English teacups it makes you almost think you are in living in one of Jane Austin books.Coupled with classical music all that’s missing is snow outside and you would think you were in a movie. The service isvery personal due to the size of the premises. Seating only up to10-15 inside and another 5-10 outside, there is only need for2 people to serve. When ordering, the prices are very competitiveand the portions are more than generous. We grabbed the parmesan and truffle eggs and the bacon and banana French toast, both devoured in minutes. The caf has a limited range but what they do offer they excel at and has become a local hero for the residents of Kensington.

The first thing you notice about this rather delightful old charm cafe is the look about it, setup to look like a traditional high tea establishment. The Service was personal and great with attention to detail upon my visit. The food was good and was pleasing to say the least, big positions always please

Gertrude and Petunias is in a good location on Todman avenue, easy to spot and get a carpark out the front. It feels like a French/Parisian antique cafe with cute chairs and trinkets. Selling pastries, coffees, toasted sandwiches, quiches and pies (some pretty interesting options like pulled pork). You can also order eggs etc to eat in. I got a chai latte which was really nice and a berry cake. Easy breakfast and the lady was really nice and provided quick service. aroundtheclockfoodie.com

First time visit to this sweet little corner cafe with retro decor and friendly service. Had a nice Cappuccino ($3.50) made with Campos Coffee. Seems like a cute local gem and spotted a few nice cakes on display. I’d go back again for maybe one of their vanilla slices. simonfoodfavourites.blogspot.com

Gertrude & Petunias is a quaint little cafe oozing charm. The menu is varied and covers a range of tastes. Service was super fast and very friendly. Food was tasty and well priced. Nice little cafe all round!

Charming, yet slightly disappointing. This cafe is decked out with lovely antiques and has an olde worlde Parisian feel. Small, cozy, and beautifully decorated, it would be the perfect place for a coffee and a sweet pastry (the apple crumbles looked amazing). However, the a la carte menu is a bit…petite. The options are quite limited, and they didn’t really appeal to me. No eggs Benedict? I chose the corn cake stack. It delivered what it promised, but it didn’t satisfy. Why was the bacon so limp and flaccid, like a old man with erectile difficulties? Why was there maple syrup? It tried and didn’t really work. Service was fine, maybe a little slow, but tolerable for a Sunday morning. I really wanted to like this place more. I just think the menu could be updated.

Lovely little cafe with the right amount of ambience. Beautiful decor and a great range of choices on the menu. The first time i went it was lovely but a more recent visit had me disappointed. The staff were a little rude and there was no restroom for the patrons. It is a tea house with no restroom! An older lady asked for the facilities after enjoying her tea and was told there was one but only for staff and she would have to get in her car and drive to the shopping centre and use their facilities. Not good enough. It seats over 30 so there should be restrooms.
