Had been to the departmental store opposite the road and spotted this indian restaurant serving tandoori and biryani. This restaurant is pretty small and there is no decor or ambience as such. We ordered two naan meals with curries. I had the mushroom bhaji, homemade chicken curry and eggplant gravy. The food is delicious only the drawback being just too much oil in it. Also tried the fish curry also it was good. They have veg samosa and lamb samosa too. Didnt try their biryani as was full with naan and curry. Pricing too is good and service is quick. Will try more of their food stuffs next time. I believe they need to rework on the ambience otherwise its a good place to be at.
Lured by their Biryani claim, I asked the owner to make me a strong one. Owner admitted that their origin is Bangladesh not Hyderabad but insist that their Biryani is up there. Being a Biryani fanatics, I couldn’t resist but to give it a go despite having finished my Ole burger a few stores down. While the chicken is really juicy and fresh, I find the rice lack the texture normally found in good basmati rice. While the Biryani flavour was there it was a bit too savoury for me. There was no heat at all so he must have underestimated my heat tolerance level. Can’t say I am impressed but wouldn’t say I am disappointed either.
Go elsewhere. I had the butter chicken here on Friday night. Nice people but disappointing food. The butter chicken had way too much sugar.
Good Indian for cheap. This place is now called Tandoori and they do good Indian. The meat is tender and moist and very flavourful overall. This has become my favourite go to place in Kensington. It’s cheap too!
Little simple easy restaurant, family run and Indian authentic, cocking like at home
Great ‘after-school’ value. After school and your children are hungry? Get one choice with rice for $517 Sep, 2010Yummy foods and friendly!. The boss is very friendly. He is a great ‘businessman’ – always gives complimentary papadams when he sees children. We love the butter chicken, naan, beef &spinch (the best!).Decor is simple and needs updating but how cares about that when there’s delicious foood!
