Popped into La Mar after a rather large Saturday night. Having to order and pay at the bar was annoying. Food and coffee was ok, the green smoothy wasn’t the best, service was mediocre. Not a terrible experience but I wouldn’t rush back.
Was back in Kingscliff again with my wife . Went back to one of my favourite places ,La Mar Cafe & Bar The new owners doing a great job . I like it that they keep changing things around , trying to improve the place . The place looks great , and the atmosphere was great . The owners were both there and made time to have a chat with us. I had the fish and chips for lunch with salad which was perfect , my wife had Lamb kebabs with a salad . A glass of wine each and there was no room for desert . Sevice was very good considering the place was very busy and a very good coffee on the house , made the lunch perfect . The price was very reasonable . Keep up the good work Mat and Saskia we will be back.
Food great. Service lacking.. I enjoy the food at this cafe but what I find disappointing is the staff at times. You get this feeling that they are only working to get paid, not because they enjoy their job. Also they can be slow to present you with a menu and others get served before you, even though you have arrived before them. The selected few customers receive water at their table. I attended the cafe this morning and both ladies on either side of me received water but yet I didn’t. Why did I miss out? (Mind you, it isn’t the first time this has happened Grrrr)So if the wait staff could pick up on their service and attention to detail I would frequent this cafe more often. Thanks
The food is beautiful and clearly home-made. We weren’t easy customers but the staff were very friendly and willing to cater to our whims. Been here a couple of times for meals while holidaying in the area. We came here on a recommendation and in turn we recommend it to others. 🙂
