Superb breakfasts. Very friendly service, and quite quick even when appearing to be quite busy. Had potato & corned beef cakes today – very generous serving, just like your grandma made. Had to get some baked goods takeaway, no room on our tummies.
Was so excited to try this cafe after all the awesome reviews but we were disappointed. Busy Sunday morning with no tables free, so opted for a couple of muffins & takeaway coffee to eat by the beach. Lengthy wait for a takeaway coffee: ordered a cappuccino and long black and both were terrible: you could see silty grounds swirling all through the long black. As for the cappuccino, I’ve honestly had better at McCafe. Add to that no acknowledgement of having stood there, waiting – a simple ‘thanks for waiting’ would’ve sufficed. The muffins were good, but only what you’d expect.

Very nice meal, good coffee thickshake, needs a little stronger coffee taste. Great coffee though.
One of Kingscliff’s finest eateries, Mockingbird Cafe continually seems to evolve and innovate. Using fresh, seasonal and sometimes unusual ingredients, they make some of the most incredible food.Whenever I am in the area, I love eating here. They have interesting and delicious daily specials and their menu seems to always delight most customers. I ordered the fish of the day and was pleasantly surprised when the waitress informed me that it was mahi mahi – in my opinion, a truly underrated fish.To put it simply, the dish was spectacular. The fish was perfectly cooked and it was a joy to eat. The potatoes (kipfler) were beautiful and the salad was zesty and fresh. It’s quite hard to find caper berries at any given time in a super market, so to find them in the salad was a really nice surprise. A mouthful of every element was a flavour explosion and they all harmonised together which made for a very pleasurable experience. To conclude this review, Mockingbird Cafe is an establishment that consistently produces interesting and delicious food – it throws traditional cafe food out the window and instead creates something much better.
