De Nero is just off Anzac Parade with outdoor tables from which you can watch the world go by so could be particularly good for a coffee – they make it hot, strong, rich and creamy but maybe too grainy to be at the elite level. The food was lacklustre, the Spanish eggs including half a log of bland chorizo (although at least they cooked it well and it wasn’t chewy, unlike the last time a cafe served that to me) and bread that was burnt on the face but went soggy and lost its structure very quickly. There are a lot of simple food options in the window as well but, like the breakfast, they look a bit expensive for what you get. The staff are extremely friendly, which seems to lead to a lot of regular customers, but they’re also very slow on the counter and the queue moved very slowly at 10:30am. I don’t know of any fancy cafes in Kingsford, however, so this could make a decent local.

Headed here thanks to google maps as we needed to grab breakfast quickly and seemed like a nice little cafe from outside. Must say i was quite disappointed when the drinks had arrived itself. I had ordered a chailatte which had no flavour of the tea and tasted of only milk. Even after givin them the feedback which I thought was obvious considering it was white in colour, the replacement also tasted almost the same which i then decided to let go and thought I would just wait for the food. And must say that wait was pretty long also that too for something really poor quality. The croissant felt just like a supermarket croissant. In short, neither the food nor service is worth the price.
Over priced low quality. Ordered big breakfast for around 16 dollars figured I would be getting gourmet breakfast for that price, got cheap bacon, one piece of what looked like Helga,s or Aldi bread, abit of a chirizo sausage and bacon that tasted like it came from those 1 kilo value packs. Coffee was okay but won’t go back there.
Slow!!. We came in a group of 15 people. After 1.5 hours, 3 of us still did not have their food served while the other 12 have almost done eating. They’ve started serving other tables their food and when asked, the staff’s reply was that there is only one stove to prepare all the food hence delay is inevitable. Scrambled eggs were dry and flakey. Poached eggs were well cooked to the core on some. No consistency. This is a place for you to get your coffee-fix from the neighbourhood. Definitely not one if you want to have a meal or two. There are plenty of other choices in Kensington or Randwick.
