I’ve had mie goreng – good mix of ingredients but fairly bland – and rendang with veges – the beef was fantastically tender but the sauce was rather bland. One meal can probably feed two normal people. I’ve also missed out when they’ve been shut at short notice, or found that they didn’t have anything available close to opening time (so why open?) or that very few dishes were available in the window. The food probably doesn’t beat Pondok Buyung and Enjoy Mie up the road in Kensington but the casual approach to customer service, which I’m seeing a fair bit of in this area, is a bit backward these days.

After a bit dissapointed of having an authentic nasi padang last week, one fried advised me to try this place. Not only nasi padang, I tried sate padang as well. Nasi padang was in huge portion, the waitress even asked me if I want more rice (of course!) I ate nasi padang with kangkung belacam (taste good, the belacan is strong), telur balado (so-so), and rendang (rendang is spicy mild and very tender, the sauce given generously which was good). My sate padang was very authentic, much better than sate padang in Medanese restaurant in Surry Hills i reckon. They made it with cow tongue (like sate padang should be), and the sauce was a bit spicy which i like it remind me of my favorite sate padang selero ajo in Jakarta. All cost me $28 (dont know exactly how much the price of my nasi padang and sate padang was). Surely i’ll be back next time..

Review based on multiple visits over years. 3 dishes w rice for $12-142 dishes w rice for $ 10-11Green chilli or red chilli fried fish, terong balado (sambal eggplant), gulai singkong cassava curry, fried chicken ayam kalasan, chicken curry, beef rendang, perkedel (deep fried mashed potato w corned beef) etc etc are all available on their bain-marie, padang style not unlike pondok buyung at kensington (see my rev for buyung). The main deviation in style is that sedap rasa leans more towards indo-chinese way of cooking. And that is reflected in their menu from the kitchen. On this visit, i got their nasi goreng w prawns, chinese indonesian influences shone here though i must say it does not quite represent how i imagined it to be. As it is, there were a few token nods to crunchy cabbage, red peppers n 4 prawns. It was ok but i wouldnt order this again. Mie tektek (indo style chicken/prawn wet noodle), a staple among the rich n poor in indo, served from rickshaw to mid end outlets, youd be hard pressed to find an identical taste amongst vendors. Such a simple dish really n quite a healthy one at that. I challenge you to find another joint which serves mie tektek here in sydney. Gado gado indo salad w peanut sauce, a wee stingy in their tofu n where is the tempeh??? That said, they obliged w my req for extra spiciness.Quite a fav of mine this joint. Along w indo rasa just up the road. Thanks in advance for reading n for the likes. Such a pain doing it w the latest ver of zom.
