Yummba just does vegetarian Mediterranean food, either wrapped in pita or on a plate, and its not too bad at $10-$11 for the wraps. The felafel is the star with a tasty green interior and a crispy fried exterior. The various vegetables looked a little poxy sitting in the window – they were ok within the context of the wrap but didnt add much to the taste – but the sauces were very good. There are a few tables protected from the rain.
I’ve had Yummba falafels a couple of times now and both times enjoy them. The pita bread pockets are soft, falafel balls are crunchy and together with the fillings, all in all it’s a tasty, joyful pocket of deliciousness. It’s a filling lunch and I stay full for quite a while after which is great because I get hungry easily XPIt’s a good place for an easy, quick lunch 🙂
Their chickpea falafels are the best. It’s rightfully fried so it’s all crunchy when you bite into it and juicy in the middle. I normally used to get the falafel platter which had 8 balls along with humus, tabouli and a bread on the side (which by the way is so soft). Their pita bread pockets were also a very good hunger quencher.
I was excited to discover a falafel place on campus. I’m always on a good lookout for good falafel joints especially aftermy experience at L’As Du Fallafel… it really changed my expectations. I ordered their Yummba Falafel – Hummus, Tahini, Red cabbage, pickles and 6 freshly made Falafel balls. The inital bite was quite fantastic.. a nice distribution of taste… as you continue you’d soon fine that everything gets soggy fast… andI’m a very quick eater… I demolished it under 10 minutes but still found it to be soggy and the flavours all blending too much. It wasnt dry at least.. but it just ended up being slightly over salty. I love the idea of the pita pocket holding it all together. Though its not very solid as the soggyness cracked through that easily. I’d come back again to try a less intense one… their falafels arent bad. The customer service is nice and friendly…. and quite efficient at making each serving. I would have loved if the bread was slightly warm coming out as well.
