Oh this place on a sunny day is heaven. When you get seated at your table, they place a hand written welcome card to make you feel right at home. If you get the chance to sit at their courtyard listening to live jazz being played while you dine on their mouthwatering goodies. Still under construction is their patio and a small shed that will be a surprise in the nee year for the restaurant. Oh! Before I move on… the also have their oen vege garden which I am sure, gets used in the meals. There is so much to love about this place! We also loved to magical view. It’s really a nice place for a day trip and a mini getaway from all the hustle and bustle. The food here is not cheap but well worth the asking price. What we ordered: starting with the entree. We ordered their squid pancake Mains were: beef eye fillet and ink squid pappadelle both of these dishes were extremely filling that, we ended up skipping dinner. We also ordered a side of truffle potatoes that were to die for. In short, we over ordered and completely stuffed ourselves silly, as that can be extremely lethal to the waistline. You will out of Lochiel House feeling extremely satisfied.
Decent coffee, that food though Firstly living in the Hawkesbury the outdoor seating is familiar, but here the gardens are really quite something to look at!I cannot remember the name of the dish (see photo), however it was my first time trying the Spanish style baked eggs. I was not disappointed!.Please do yourself a favour and get out here!
As a disclaimer.. I’m not that picky and have never sent a dish back, but this meal was borderline inedible and a major disappointment.. we first went to lochiel house a few years ago when it was owned by the 2 sisters and had the most amazing meal.. we went this Sunday to have one of the worst meals I’ve ever experienced. Entrees- I had the steak tartare. Topped with what tasted like the Mie Goreng fried onions, the dish was so heavily salted it had almost completely cooked the meat. My cousin had the octopus which was covered in smoked fish flakes to the point that’s all we could smell on the table, completely over powered every other component on the plate. My uncle had the pulled pork salad which had such a strong vinegarette, you could barely swallow the food. The gnocchi was the only decent meal we ordered. Come mains I had the housemade fettuccini and wild mushrooms… There was so much salt and garlic it burnt my mouth with a bitter spicy flavour (there was chilli in the dish but this was a different burn) the mushrooms were lost and the whole dish was too salty. 1 bite and I requested a different meal.. ordered the lamb.. the meat was beautifully cooked, the pumpkin was so sweet it tasted like it was meant for a desert. My cousin had the jerk chicken which was barely cooked.. he could only eat so much of it. All other mains had a common theme of too much salt or too much of one flavour that it wasn’t enjoyableDon’t even worry about the deserts- not worth the calories. The waitresses were great but the cherry on top of this salty cake was having the chef stand across the room giving my family and I the look of absolute death. For $25-38 per meal, you expect a little better. Lochiel house is not what it once was.. we won’t be returning.
What a gem. I have dined at Lochiel House numerous times now and every single time I have a lovely dining experience. The food here is absolutely superb and it would match any 2 hat restaurant in Sydney hands down. This chef really knows his stuff. The menu is varied so there is something for everyone. The dishes are delicate to look at and so well put together with stunning flavours. The wine list whilst not extensive is most interesting with lots of gems. Front of house is seamless led by Jess and her team.Fine dining at its best in a very relaxed atmosphere, I just love this place.
This place is AMAZING! The atmosphere and ambience of this place is so intimate and romantic. It’s warm and welcoming, and you are made to feel really special by the gorgeous staff. In addition to that, the food is to die for! They pack so much flavour and personality into these dishes, you just want to try everything! Beautiful place, beautiful menu! A new fav for sure!
Amazing food and service. I’m telling all my friends to visit!
Cheese souffl to die for. Wow! Ate here in 2005, again in 2009 and then again yesterday. The food was always good but it has certainly stepped up a huge notch with the new chef. Started with the cheese souffl (always a winner but looked a little smaller this time). My friend had the cured meat platter and I had food envy. For main I had the the snout to tail pork and every mouthful was a taste explosion. Two friends had the lamb dish and especially loved the pea panna cotta, but they weren’t so sure about the lambs brain ( would have been better crumbed). Three of were very glad we each finished with the chocolate dessert and especially liked the peanut butter ice cream and crunch. yUMMO! Oh and what a treat to get a tomato consumme amuse bouche 🙂
